Local Enterprise Partnerships: Local enterprise partnerships were given extra help when they received a share of the £5 million start up fund to get up and running.

First ExEFG loan granted to Norton Motorcycles: Legendary motorbike maker Norton Motorcycles (UK) Ltd will boost production of its bespoke bikes after receiving a Government-backed trade loan. Business Secretary Vince Cable made the announcement during a visit to the niche manufacturer based in Donington Park in Derbyshire.

Equity Markets: Three senior city figures were appointed to form the Advisory Board for the Kay Review of UK equity markets and long-term decision making.

Launch of consultation: BIS has launched a consultation on details of the regulatory system for future of higher education, following publication of the higher education white paper ‘Putting students at the heart of the system.’

Low Carbon Economy

Low carbon transition: Vince Cable saw a renewable energy device that can save the energy industry over £600 million in reduced capital costs cutting carbon emissions by 37 million tonnes by 2020.
