You may lose half the congregation to holidays, you might get a well-deserved break yourself or perhaps you’re prepping for a full blown summer club. Whatever your church looks like this summer, there’s an amazing opportunity to encourage parents to make the most of the extra time they have with their children. Maybe this could be a great opportunity for you to give some ideas to the mums and dads you know, so that they can be more intentional about nurturing faith at home? A couple of suggestions might be: - Spend some time reading the Bible together during your lazy mornings, chatting through verses with your children. - When you’re out and about in creation what questions could you ask to show how God is at work in the world? - Could you serve somebody who is ill in church by baking them cakes, or visit someone who is lonely? Maybe you have more family services over the summer. Could you encourage family activities and inter-generational interaction so that children really feel part of the family of God? ![]() "We will tell the next generation Psalm 78:4 Despite the lack of routine, lower numbers and quieter feel to the summer – it also provides a wonderful period of time to encourage parents as they raise the next generation. We pray you have a great summer break and enjoy some well-deserved rest too. Claire and the Kitchen Table Project team How do we connect with God? ![]() This summer on Facebook we’ll be discovering how we best connect with God. Each week we’ll look at a different method, like worship, being creative or contemplative, and offer ideas mums and dads can do to help their children connect with God in the best way for them. Let parents know about it now by encouraging them to connect with our Facebook page here! Family fun ![]() The summer holidays can feel long and the lack of routine a little disconcerting. Could you plan a church picnic or a family day to help parents get out of the house and have something fun to do? What a great way to build inter-generational relationships!
Discipleship for parents![]() It’s so important for mums and dads to show an authentic relationship with God to their children. Could you let them know about the brand new 14-day devotional 'Be Refreshed' that’s available for free now? Written by Andy Frost and Cathy Madavan it journeys through some of the Psalms, encouraging parents in their own faith and how to model that to their children. The devotional can be found on our Facebook page or via the blog on our website! We would love to hear about the different ways churches are encouraging parents in this journey so that we can share these ideas with other churches. If you would like to share your ideas please contact us. |
