Festival of Flowers on the Mall

In partnership with Pioneer Courthouse Square's annual Festival of Flowers display, BE FRIENDLY PDX designed by Holst Architecture, PMMI will host two floral installations along the transit mall at Unitus Plaza and Congress Center. Holst’s design will bring awareness to the essential impact bees have on the environment and food supply, and the vital responsibility we have to keep bee colonies safe and healthy. The honeycomb pattern represents bee colonies, a symbol of the natural beauty this animal creates and sustains.

The floral designs will be on display from June 3-14 along the transit mall and at the Square. For more information on Festival of Flowers, click here

On June 13, celebrate the Festival of Flowers BE FRIENDLY PDX installations with a honey-themed giveaway at Mondays on the mall! At 12pm, be on the lookout for Mz. Bumble and Bonnie the Beekeeper, who will hand out FREE Boyco Foods honey sticks, bee balloons, and more along the transit mall while supplies last!

Brick Work on the Transit Mall

Part of PMMI's mission is maintaining the transit mall and addressing infrastructure deteroriation. The heavy rains this past winter caused damage to the sand-set brick paver intersections. In the past several weeks, brick work has been performed at intersections along SW 5th, SW 6th, SW Yamhill, and SW Morrison. PMMI works with neighboring businesses, TriMet, and more to coordinate work times and complete the necessary repairs in the most timely and efficient manner. Brick work will continue this week.

Poopmaster6000 returns in June!

PMMI rented the infamous Poopmaster6000 for the winter crow season. However, when the crows left for the spring, PMMI sent the Poopmaster back to its home for a rest. It did such fantastic job cleaning, PMMI is bringing it back in the summer months to assist in keeping the transit mall clean.

The Poopmaster6000 is a self-contained, ride-on, integrated scrubber/sweeper with a system that electronically converts water into an innovative cleaning solution that has no environmental impact. This unique street cleaning machine will help keep the transit mall blocks clean of bird droppings and provide a clean pathway along the pedestrian throughway.

Look for it along the transit mall June through August!
