Qantas Next Gen One Shelley Street Redfern Waterloo Cafe Sydney Cuneo Identity
 QANTAS NEXT GEN Signage *

Frost* has been working closely with Qantas on its new domestic check in experience as it rolls out throughout Australia. First implemented in Perth and now in place in Sydney and Melbourne, Frost* has helped contemporise the airport environment through exciting new graphics, signage and customer communications that help streamline and simplify in line with the technological innovations in check in. The work has been conducted in collaboration with Marc Newson. Frost* has also recently created Qantas’ 90th anniversary logo which features on in-flight programming, sleeper-suits and advertising.

ONE SHELLEY STREET Environmental Graphics *

We spend a huge part of our lives at work, so when iconic One Shelley Street decided to incorporate Activity Based Working in their refurbishment we were more than happy to add a playful touch. Collaborating with the interior design team from Woods Bagot, Frost* designed environmental graphics and introduced three-dimensional elements for levels eight and nine, establishing a sense of place and a flexible workspace. Level eight, named “The Studio”, comprises of two areas with a Japanese theme, taking inspiration from traditional and contemporary Japanese culture. Level nine, “The Warehouse”, takes reference from its industrial shipping wharf past, with an exaggerated warehouse aesthetic using optical illusions, depth, perspective and scale.

 REDFERN WATERLOO Destination Branding *

Visitors to Redfern will notice a distinctive smile beaming at them as part of a major project to reposition the area’s image. Frost* has worked with the Roll up Redfern Group to develop branding for the area, based around the idea of “welcoming”. The new brand comes from the insight that peoples’ perceptions of Redfern change significantly once they visit, but many currently don’t find it inviting. The idea of welcoming is also deeply connected to Redfern’s rich indigenous history and traditions of ‘welcoming to country’. The brand essence is perfectly captured in a new logo based on the shape of a smile – a universal symbol of welcome that creates a positive feeling for the area.

 CAFE SYDNEY Website Design *

As mobiles and tablets become more important for reaching customers, Frost* has been working with Café Sydney to optimise their digital presence. The iconic restaurant’s new site has an advanced online booking system that works from all personal devices as well as news, a virtual tour and user engagement features to make the site more sticky. Since launching, time spent on the site has increased by 40%. Visit the new site.

CUNEO Identity and Website Design *

It is always rewarding to help people who are striving to be the very best in their field. So it has been wonderful to support young Australian conductor, Ollivier-Philippe Cunéo, as he further develops his career in both Australia and overseas. Cunéo’s new identity is both classic and contemporary and uses a single continuous line, in the same way that a conductor uses his baton to trace shapes in the air to indicate musical tempo and dynamics. We have also developed a new website for Cunéo, extending the continuous line theme into an editorial-stye site. Check it out.

The design and presentation of India Cookbook – which comes in a bag reminiscent of an Indian rice bag – was been praised for its impact and originality. The Gourmand Cookbook Awards is presented annually at the Paris Cookbook Fair and includes entries from authors and publishers in over 150 countries.

We’re also proud to announce that we have won an Australia-wide tender to brand Broken Hill as the city seeks to reposition itself in wide range of markets including tourism, events, film and education.

Flood Relief Auction
Frost* Design is proudly supporting the Queensland flood relief effort by donating a sculptural piece to the Design College Australia auction which will take place on 18 March.

Design College Australia sent out an SOS to the global design community to donate artwork for the flood relief. A huge number of the world’s prominent designers responded, with pieces donated from the likes of Milton Glaser, Neville Brody, Stefan Sagmeister and David Carson to name a few.

We donated ‘Poke’, a sculpture we created for Graphic Material, an exhibition held as part of the Sydney Design Festival last year. We took a two-dimensional word and brought it to life as a three dimensional structure. The artwork uses protruding steel rods to spell out the word.

Head to the Design College Australia in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley on 18 March and bid on some world-class artwork. All money raised will go to the Premier’s Disaster Relief Fund.
