Choose your ultimate winter adventure

With pulsing cities where creativity flows and grows; idyllic villages from Eden to the Tweed; and some of Earth’s rawest wilderness, New South Wales sets the scene for winter adventures in culture, nature and the unexpected.

And it all begins with a jam-packed Event Spotlight – your statewide hitlist of winter highlights that showcase NSW’s beating heart and soul. This week’s edition invites you into the poignant art and timeless spirit of the world’s oldest living culture at the National Indigenous Art Fair, while the Broken Hill Mundi Mundi Bash brings live music and world-class festivities to the red desert plains of the far west.

The feelgood discoveries continue down south in Mighty Murray country, too, where the list of thrilling possibilities is as long as Australia’s longest river itself. Take your pick of paddle-steamer cruises, kayaking, waterskiing, mountain-biking and golf – all amid idyllic bushscapes that have inspired generations of artists.

Back in the Harbour City, every winter day offers a fresh way to play – as you’ll see in our roundup of Sydney’s best daytime experiences, featuring everything from eclectic markets and beachside festivals  to an iconic footrace that’s more fun than run.
