VisitEngland Gold Pub of the Year Asparagus Month at The Feathered Nest, Cotswold Romance Fathers Day at The Feathered Nest Pantry foods to order Cotswolds GastroPub

Friends

The Nest is celebrating its 4th Anniversary tomorrow!
To highlight this event, Kuba has created a delectable dish featuring fresh Cornish Lobster.

It was back in 2009 when Amanda and myself got the keys to an empty, even in parts derelict, pub.  All food from the previous owner was still on the premises. So as you can imagine, with no electricity for months on end before we took possession, the odour was rather overwhelming to say the least!

Together with Carl, gallons of bleach and many pairs of Marigold gloves, we endured days of rigorous cleaning and disinfecting before we could even let the builders commence with the extensive renovation project.

The story is long and when I get some free time, I will write a short history on ”The Nest” and all the delights we had to deal with from day one!
(not least the surprise discovery in a food shed, piled high on the floor and hanging from the walls we were greeted by dozens of morbid shot wild rabbits at least 7months old - even the maggots could not stand being near them.)

But on a lighter note: We opened our doors on May 15th, 2010 and thanks to your support over the years we have gone from strength to strength.

Double Gold

Last night we attended the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence ceremony hosted by Lady Penelope, Viscountess Cobham, at The Jockey club at Cheltenham Racecourse.

On the eve of the 4th anniversary of “The Nest”, it is with great delight that we are once again, for the second time in a row, being honoured with this prestigious 'Tourism Pub of the Year' Gold Award on a national scale.

It is even more momentous as this follows hot on the heels of the 'Beautiful South Awards for Excellence' in which we also achieved our 2nd consecutive Gold Award for ‘Pub of the Year’ and a Gold for ‘Flavour of the South’. This is by no means an easy task and I am very proud of our team whom have all worked so hard to make “The Feathered Nest” such a welcoming destination for so many people from far and wide.

Commenting on the Award James Berresford, VisitEngland’s Chief Executive said “We received hundreds of applications of an exceptionally high quality making the competition for a Gold Award extremely tough.  It is therefore a tremendous achievement for The Feathered Nest to win the Gold Award for the second consecutive year, the highest accolade for Excellence in Tourism, which VisitEngland can bestow.  They have raised the bar for excellence for others to aspire to and I warmly congratulate them on their exemplary contribution to tourism in this country."

I wish to thank you, our friends, once again for your continuous support.

Look forward to seeing you all soon!

Tony and Amanda Timmer
