Dear TSGers, As I am sure some of you have already noticed, we made some changes to the TSG Game, Event and Member Profile pages last weekend. In addition, we have also modified the Menu Tabs to be easier to use on mobile. However, we are always keen on feedback, so please feel free to email us at theteam@thesocialgolfer.com with your thoughts/comments - good and bad - and we'll feed this back to the development team. Meanwhile, at TSG HQ, we are getting excited about the rescheduled TSG Matchplay Final's Day at Addington Court GC this Sunday!

TSG FAVOURITE COURSES: Stats tell us your favourite courses in 2019...

It's that time of year when we look back at our site stats and tally up where we have all been playing in 2019. As you can see below, out of 3,500+ rounds played by TSGers at 187 different courses this year - Crown Golf's - Pine Ridge GC in Surrey remains the no.1 most played course for the 3rd year running...

...although it looks like South Essex in Essex is giving it a good challenge!

TSG EVENT: The Social Golfer MatchPlay Final 2019 - RESCHEDULED

So once again bad weather postponed the TSG Matchplay final! However, rest assured, it is back on, this Sunday and ALL TSGers are welcome to come along to Addington Court GC and watch our champion crowned for only £20!

Course Review of the Month: Islantilla Golf Resort, Huelva, Spain.

"Good resort course..." 

The courses are attached to the Islantilla Resort which will probably mean that in the next six months the prices are going to take an upward hike, as it has just been purchased by Hilton Group and is due for a refurbishment. However, the golf course... as with many throughout Spain, remember, that whatever club you need, take an extra one!

There are three nines here, Blue, Yellow and Green. The Green is the tougher nine (19-27), with the Yellow maybe just the easiest. The course itself is in need of a refurb too - cart paths are broken and some, you even feel you may fall out of the buggy! There is definitely a need for the sprinklers to get an overhaul as many only points one way and the ensuing 'bog' that you need to play from or drive through is a good pointer as to why we played pick and place all week. The parts of the fairway that were not suffering from overwatering are in very good condition, as are the fairways.

The greens are very furry, but this could be because there was an enormous storm on arrival and overnight before our first game, meaning they were letting them recover..... but I would not put money on it being the case. They did run fairly true and also had a bonus of being very receptive. Ps. Bunkers had something many UK courses don't - sand!

The clubhouse is very friendly and welcoming. Booze is plentiful and the food is really good (100% better than the hotel at present). I didn't use the driving range, but all seemed to be happy with it - included a practice bunker and extra putting green to complement the small one by the clubhouse. Is a return trip on the cards? Maybe if the company that I went with gets favourable rates and friends decide to go again next year.
