Happy New Year!

2015

Happy New Year from the staff of the CCPS Undergraduate Advising Center! Every month we provide this newsletter to provide some updates about what has been happening in our office. We hope you have enjoyed reading them!

We are already gearing up for the March registration cycle. It's important that students meet with our office at least once a year to review their academic plans. Please encourage students you are in contact with to meet with an advisor and stay on track toward their degree goals.

Our data continues to show that we are seeing about 73% of the enrolled CCPS students at least once in the academic year! Considering that we do not have mandatory advising this is an amazing number of students who are using the services we provide!

We have recently completed our search for a new academic advisor and we look forward to introducing you to her in our next newsletter. She will join our office on January 19th and we are excited for you to meet her.

Please remember to review our monthly newsletter (available the second Monday of the month after this) for news and information from our office that will benefit you and your students! Happy New Year!

Online Appointment Scheduler

The CCPS-UAC was part of a small group of programs piloting a new appointment scheduling software at the end of last year. After a successful pilot the university has moved forward with a committment to utilize this software and begin a full implementation over the coming year.

So far we have been using the system behind the scenes as we created all of the back-end functions that will make the software work for our needs. The software allows us to automatically send appointment confirmations, reminders, and follow up email messages which have previously been sent manually. This will save staff time and resources and allow us to focus on other projects. Additionally, students are able to cancel their appointment if something comes up by clicking a link in the reminder email message, reducing the number of "no shows" and "same day cancels". This will allow our advisors to see more students as those slots become available for other students.

This week we will also launch the feature which will allow students to schedule their own appointments via the web. This means 24/7 access to scheduling an appointment with an academic advisor. MORE INFORMATION.
