Hi there,

Collaboration between academia and business has always been critical. And when it comes to emerging technologies like AI it can create transformational opportunities.

The launch of the University of Waikato’s AI Institute brings with it plenty of potential to move AI and machine learning forward for New Zealand businesses and for the country as a whole, with the Institute’s director, Albert Bifet talking a big game on collaboration, commercialisation and education (and by education we mean making AI learning accessible for business leaders, not just academics).

Australia is already investing heavily in AI with the Federal Government announcing A$54 million this week to set up a National AI Centre. Bifet is keen to ensure local businesses aren’t left behind – in today's lead story, he shares the Institute’s plans and how they could help local organisations.

We also talk hyperautomation – and in the case of Accounts Receivable that is exactly where we'll be exploring opportunities in next week's 'Automating Collections' webinar  – register now for the live event.

Enjoy the read,
