Welcome to the Jetty4Shores Newsletter Latest stage of Jetty4Shores Project CompletedA new carpark – the latest phase of the revitalisation of the Jetty4Shores – is now open to the public.
The carpark, which has been built to the north of the centrepiece Jetty Walkway adjacent to Jordan Esplanade, is the first section of the planned $9.2m Jetty4Shores Events and Active Recreation Hub. It contains 47 parking spaces, four of which are for people with disabilities, plus there are a further 13 parallel spaces on Jordan Esplanade. As well as the carpark, the finished works also included drainage improvements, landscaping and footpath connections to the Walkway. In addition, kerb and guttering was installed along Jordan Esplanade next to and opposite the carpark. “This part of the project was always scheduled to end before the busy Christmas holiday season and the Rally events and I’d like to congratulate all those involved for delivering it on time,” said Coffs Harbour Mayor, Councillor Denise Knight. Detailed design work is ongoing for the plaza and terraced steps onto Jetty Beach, a boardwalk linking the plaza to the head of the historic Jetty and the events and market area. Geotechnical investigations, heritage and environmental assessments are also ongoing, along with the redesign of the existing electrical infrastructure and storm water systems. These detailed design and environmental approvals are scheduled to be completed by the end of this month with construction works expected to begin in the second quarter of 2017. The Australian Government's Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development’s National Stronger Regions Fund is funding half the cost of the $9.2m project.
