Research Update

Good afternoon,

Linked below is the State Shipments for February 2019.

Here are a few key findings:

  • Total beer shipment volume increased by 1.4% during February 2019 and is now up 0.9% year-to-date.
  • Growth in February may well have been stronger had it not been for adverse weather conditions, including below average temperatures and unusually high amounts of precipitation, especially west of the Rockies.
  • Distributors continued to build FMB inventories (including hard seltzers) in February, in anticipation of consumer demand growth during the coming warmer months to avoid running out of stock.
  • Additionally, import shipments performed well in February, gaining more than a point in share of shipment volume.
