Major update to VBOX Firmware and Software

We are delighted to announce a new release of firmware and software for the VBOX3i and above. A number of ADAS applications – detailed below – can now be tested and verified using the new features which represent a significant advance in the capabilities of the VBOX3i range.

You can access the new firmware and software from a dedicated ADAS download page here >

    Open road ADAS testing

We are pleased to announce the launch of our Moving Base ADAS test solution. This new feature will allow you to measure Vehicle Separation parameters to ±2cm accuracy without a fixed RTK Base Station, allowing tests to be carried out on the open road as well as a test track.

All of the following ADAS applications can be tested and verified with this new feature:

    • Collision Mitigation
    • Autonomous Emergency Braking
    • Blind Spot detection
    • Rear cross traffic detection
    • ACC stop/go systems

The Moving Base solution will require an additional 2.4Ghz Moving Base radio pair plus firmware updates for the VBOX3iSL-RTK and VBOX Manager, along with a new version of VBOX Tools software.

Please note Moving Base is only compatible with VBOX3iSL-RTK systems.

For more information on Moving Base, email vbox@racelogic.co.uk.

    Multiple targets in ADAS testing

It is now possible to measure two target vehicles with respect to the subject vehicle. This new feature simply requires new firmware and the addition of a third VBOX3iSL-RTK system and a pair of telemetry radios.

ADAS is constantly evolving, with new features being rolled out all the time. This has led to a number of new Global regulations to cover these developments. One such requirement for two Target Vehicles is the ‘target discrimination’ part of the ISO 22179 standard.

    Lane Departure Warning around corners

Forthcoming regulations mean that Lane Departure Warning Systems must now be extended to include corners. To meet this demand, we have added the capability for curved lane markings to our existing LDWS solution. Included in this setup is a purpose built surveying wheel configured to make definition of the lanes very simple.

Up to three different lane edge reference files can defined.

New Speed Sensor measures Slip, Pitch, and Roll

We have recently released a new dual antenna Speed Sensor which can be used to measure Slip, Pitch, and Roll at 100Hz. It is the first of our VBOX products to include a Yaw rate sensor, and has been developed to ensure Slip translation calculations and Yaw rate measurements are accurate.

To accompany this release we have revamped our Racelogic Config software to allow you to quickly and easily set the parameters for your application. This product is also compatible with our versatile control unit - VBOX File Manager - allowing you to change antenna separation, dynamic modes, and elevation mask settings.

The dual antenna Speed Sensor includes advanced lap timing functionality with the option to set Start, Stop, and Split points through the software or via digital input. Additional Brake Stop parameters for deceleration, corrected distance, and standard brake tests have also been built in.

For more information, or to order yours now, email vbox@racelogic.co.uk.

Racelogic and ABD release robotic control for NHTSA FCWS test

Racelogic and Anthony Best Dynamics have been working closely together in recent months on a number of applications. As a result, we are pleased to announce that the VBOX controlled throttle and brake robot solution for the NHTSA Forward Collision Warning tests has now been released. Please contact vbox@racelogic.co.uk for more information.

Speed and Route Profiler now stores multiple routes

A common problem with vehicle testing lies in ensuring that each driven test is consistent and repeatable, with regard to speed, distance, and route travelled. Speed & Route Profiler relays a set of clear instructions to enable test drivers to follow a route and conform to set speed requirements for accurate vehicle testing.

We have now updated the system such that a maximum of ten routes can be stored on the OLED display.

It should be noted that the maximum number of hours across all routes is 8 hours, so you can for example store one 8 hour route or two 4 hour routes.

This Multiple Route feature is available when you upgrade your devices firmware and software. All upgrades are free of charge and are available here >
