In collaboration with the Open Society Institute for West Africa (OSIWA) the competition calls on young people aged 18 to 35 from West Africa to submit innovative solutions to 'Promoting Integrity in the Education Sector'. In January 2013 we gave Social Entrepreneurs' Grants to people with innovative ideas for projects to tackle corruption issues in their countries. Read the latest update from Irina Lazur, whose project idea was to open up the construction business in Chisinau, the capital of Moldova. A spate of construction frauds had robbed over 1,000 citizens of their money, sometimes their life-savings. Irina's website monitors and verifies companies so that citizens can make informed decisions as they purchase homes. Learn more.

"Last week, Brazil may have started a new chapter in its efforts to fight corruption," writes IACC Young Journalist Piero Locatelli. The Brazilian parliament has just passed a new anti-corruption law which focuses on corporate responsibility for corruption and brings Brazil in line with the OECD Convention on transnational bribery. Brazil signed the convention in 1997, so it's been a long time coming, but how effective will it be? Learn more.

On the 23 January 2014 Tunisia adopted its new constitution. IACC YJ Hafawa Rebhi followed one particular debate on transparency in Tunisia's extractive industry. Read about it here.
