Kentucky Tornados - Reservist Standby Alert: December 11, 2021

As most of us were asleep or getting ready for bed last night, numerous violent tornadoes struck our country’s heartland.  Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Tennessee, and Kentucky all felt the wrath of these storms as they ripped through businesses, homes, and communities.  News reports have shared that a nursing home was hit causing casualties and several injuries in Arkansas.  An Amazon distribution center collapsed in Illinois.  Kentucky Governor, Andy Beshear said in reference to a factory being hit in Mayfield, KY, “We believe the death toll from this event will exceed 50 Kentuckians and probably end up being 70-100.”

Aaron Stetson, Steve and Deb LaForge, are currently on the ground in Kentucky assessing the damage.  We are gathering more information to make the determination on how to best deploy and bring compassionate action to these communities.

What You Need to do Now:

We are asking for all Hope Force Reservists to be on standby alert for a possible deployment to the impacted area.  Hope Force will keep our social media platforms updated.  Please check your calendars, and prayerfully assess logistics for you to determine if this is a good time for you to respond.  If you are available, or even think you may be, please EMAIL Connie with the following:

  • Name
  • Email
  • Cell phone number
  • Dates of availability (as best you know)

Also:

  • Conduct a self-assessment regarding your ability to deploy (physically, emotionally, family circumstances, etc.)
  • Prayerfully seek God about whether or not you should deploy at this time
  • Prepare your deployment gear and supplies
  • Communication with family, friends and employers about possible deployment
  • If you cannot go at this time, please prayerfully consider giving financially to the response efforts.

This could be a great opportunity for those of you who haven't been able to deploy for a while. Your willingness to serve others with compassionate action is greatly appreciated...and we need you!

Please pray for the people impacted by these devastating tornados.  We’d also appreciate your prayers for wisdom as we continue to assess the changing situation.

Thank you!
