Proposals include enabling the tenant to assign their tenancy, for payment, to a new tenant. Chris Hyde, Associate Director with Land Agency says these will have far reaching implications ...

bob jones cup for top Wales candidate

Congratulations to one of Cooke & Arkwright’s Land Agency Surveyors in Bridgend, who has been awarded the Bob Jones Cup, a prize awarded each year to the highest placing South Wales candidate in the CAAV (Central Association of Agricultural Valuers) fellowship exam.

Rhian Howells was delighted to have been awarded not just with a pass mark, but also with the award of the Cup. Rhian, who lives in Cardiff, said: “The CAAV exams are extremely challenging and require a lot of hard work to pass, so I am very proud to have my name on this cup.

“Undertaking the CAAV fellowship is very worthwhile and enables me to provide my clients with an even higher standard of advice and expertise. Now I just need to find a shelf large enough to display the cup!”

Rhian’s work at Cooke & Arkwright chiefly focuses on rural sector estate management, valuation and professional advice. She was presented the Cup by her Cooke & Arkwright colleague Chris Hyde, who is currently serving his term as president for the CAAV South Wales and Monmouthshire branch.

Investment surveyor gains chartered status

Congratulations also go to Caryl Howell, who recently qualified for chartered status with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). Following two years of hard work and training, she now has full MRICS status and is recognised by her peers as having reached a set level of competence.

Caryl is a Senior Surveyor with Investment Agency, where she assists the team on advising institutional investors, property companies, private equity funds and developers. The team's experience provides a wide and diverse contact base of agents, investors and developers across the UK, together with an in depth knowledge of all commercial property investment sectors across the country.

Caryl is a fluent Welsh speaker and Law graduate.

Cooke & Arkwright supported Caryl throughout the APC process, providing guidance, advice and training, including mock interviews. Becoming a qualified Chartered Surveyor is extremely rewarding, not only personally, but also professionally. It is official verification of their status and abilities, and the advice they provide.

Big Thanks to all who baked, bought and ate cake for a great cause!
