Hi Friend,
Isn't the weather unpredictable at the moment? After all this much-needed rain, I'm hoping Tassie will soon get some snow so I can play snow-angels with my young granddaughter for the first time. And in the garden, my Spring bulbs are flowering during this first month of Winter!
Next Tuesday is the 30th June - the last day of the 2019-20 financial year and your last chance to take advantage of a tax-deductible donation. This year is a challenging one for most of us, so it is especially important to support Tasmanian businesses and charities and ensure your money stays in our beautiful State. Our Donate to the Lavender logo is assurance that your donation will stay in Tasmania to help Tasmanians affected by epilepsy.
We have heard about a number of organisations that have ceased volunteer activities for the time being - but we haven't!
Epilepsy Tasmania is looking for volunteers to fill a number of positions including social media, fundraising and administration support. Volunteer work is a great opportunity to develop new skills, make new friends and give back to your community.

In Memorial
All staff at Epilepsy Tasmania would like to pass on our sincere condolences to the family and friends of a young man who very sadly recently died.
Thank you to everyone who donated in lieu of funeral flowers to Epilepsy Tasmania and in memorial to this special Tasmanian.
The money donated will be used to help improve the lives of Tasmanians with epilepsy and support their families.

Tasmania has the highest State percentage of epilepsy in Australia, with over 100,000 Tasmanians affected by the condition.

A Drive-in or Outdoor Movie Anyone?
With social distancing threatening to stop all our fun, Epilepsy Tasmania has teamed up with Optus to run monthly outdoor theatre nights from October this year.
Relax in the comfort of your own car or stretch out on a rug under the stars. Maybe grab a hotdog at interval just like the old days!
Events will be held Statewide but locations are yet to be finalised - so if you know of the perfect place near you let us know. Maybe your school would like to combine with a twilight fair or your local council has an area that’s ideal to be turned into an outdoor theatre.

Support Options
If you or someone you know could benefit from some personalised advice or help with epilepsy then we have the following options available:
- Telephone or video support with our Nurse or Social Worker.
- Telephone peer-support with one of our Epilepsy Connect volunteers.
- In-person support at our Hobart or Launceston offices (appointments required).
Training Options
We are continuing to provide vital epilepsy training to schools, workplaces and community centres via:
- Video link (eg. Zoom).
- On-site, where physical distancing of participants can be applied.
- Online courses.
