Library Update: Collection moving back to Level 9

Flood damage to the Library caused by a water main break in early June resulted in service disruptions, including reduced study space, and no access to a portion of the collection housed on Level 9.

Things are, however, getting back to normal. The displaced collection is on its way back from Level 10 to Level 9. This means a bit of study disruption to Library patrons, who are advised to use quiet study areas on Level 11.

The move is expected to be complete by Aug. 30.

For all your Library-related queries, visit them in person, or online here

Soil Testing on Campus, August 21-30

For the next two weeks, look for a large drilling rig on campus as soil testing takes place in multiple locations, including near the quad area north of Markin Hall, north and west of University Hall and in Exploration Place.

Please observe any barricades surrounding the equipment and exercise caution when driving or walking around the drilling locations.

The testing is being done to collect sub grade soil profiles that are necessary to determine the type and depth of foundations for future construction, including the proposed Destination Project buildings. Learn more here.

SU Plaza Update: Fewer holes, less dirt and more concrete coming soon!

The final phase of work on the SU south plaza will get underway soon.

Remaining work on the south plaza exterior will begin late-August. New concrete will be poured throughout the site followed by sand blasting to create a unique texture in the concrete. The sand blasting process is expected to carry on well into the fall semester.

Pedestrians are asked to avoid this area during sand blasting as it is not only noisy, but also a messy and dusty environment.

The area will also see the installation of a new ramp, street lighting and some minor landscaping with more complete landscaping to take place next spring. Get additional information here.

Recruiting members for the Montana Dragon boat festival, September 6-8

Join The FUN: Join a U of L Dragon Boat Team!

Both U of L teams are headed down to the Montana Dragon Boat Festival in early September, are in need of a few more paddlers to fill the boats next month. There will be two evening practices, a couple nights in Kalispell and lots of fun for everyone.

As the image shows, the venue on Flathead Lake is beautiful, the water is fast and unlike any other dragon boating experience you might have had locally -- and the residents of Kalispell and Big Fork area put on a great weekend party for the teams and supporters.

Who Are We? We are teams of faculty, staff, students and alumni who are of different ages, sizes and shapes, all eager to practice together, perfecting the stroke and hopefully winning some races.  Learn more about the event and how to participate here.
