12th Night Reflections
Twelth night is the end of the winter festival in Europe. One year rolls into the next, as celebrations creep past the new year to January 5th or 6th, depending on where you are. This allows for a few days grace before the new year's work begins in earnest.
2012 was an extraordinary year and also for the BiDiNG TiME project. Alongside London 2012 there have been many indicators that economic crisis and environemental crisis are deepening, while women across the world are crying out for respect and new systems. The BiDiNG TiME project promotes a new approach that imagines new solutions.
During 2012 five different BiDiNG TiME productions were made, plus various interventions were placed within celebrations for the London Olympic Games and there are exciting plans for the future. The idea was to complete the project but it seems the snowball has only just started rolling and this new way of working has only just begun.
A huge thank you to everyone who has given their time and energy to this remarkable adventure.

2012 - Snapshot of the year
The aim of this project is to share a story and encourage new adaptations that share the aims and themes while allowing space for creative interpretation. This democractic approach is gathering momentum.
Starting in Croydon (January), 65 Brit School year 13 students made a remarkable physical theatre production of BiDiNG TiME, directed by Emma Baggott. It was thrilling to see so many young people take charge of the story.
In Adelaide (March) the show was made in a week for the Adelaide Fringe with a mix of seven local professional and amateur performers, supported by indy band The Giveaways.
In June Tonbridge was the setting for a promenade search for Thyme with Kent based performers including Gabrielle Moleta, 12 young members of Cascade Dance Academy, Bethan Tomlinson and exciting young songstress Poppy Alice, helped by Lubna Arielle and Lisa MacFarlane.
Tangled Feet reworked the award winning RantBox with Jenni Jackson, John Hinton and Fiona Watson, directed by Kat Joyce for Greenwich and Docklands International Festival and a pop up outdoor performance celebration to entertain the Olympic crowds.
In July, BiDiNG TiME songs were the inspiration for new compositions by 50 children, Helen Chandwick and forty young people for the Olympic torch relay celebrations in Dover as it made its way to London.
Eight young women all played 'Thyme' in a movement intervention choreographed by Gabrielle Moleta at Paradise Gardens launch of the ill fated London Pleasure Gardens as part of the London 2012 Festival.
During Fringe the infamous Bongo Club working with The Kitten has Claws turned their Sunday night cabaret over to the New Year Club in solidarity with our principles of generosity and creative expression. New versions of Auld Lang Syne were created by legendary bands such as Johnnie Stark and the RazorGang & FLAP (Australia).
In October Louise Quinn premiered her fabulous Scottish adaptation Biding Time (remix) with A Band Called Quinn, featuring performance artist Diane Torr and with directorial advice from Ben Harrison and moving image by Uisdean Murray. This production attracted four stars from four different reviews, made with support from Creative Scotland and The Arches, Glasgow.
A research trip to Beirut (November) provided huge inspiration for Pippa Bailey, meeting courageous artists and exploring connections for the project to the Arab Women's Uprising.
December enabled the twelve young French participants on the Tall Ship voyage that sailed the Olympic Torch into Dover. They met again in Hardelot, France with artists Emelie Perraudeau, Kiell Smith-Bynoe and Lisa Macfarlane. Working with translated text by Charlotte Deyzac, this exploration between Pas de Calais and Kent will continue into 2013 supported by Kent County Council and EU funding.

Looking forward... 2013 & beyond
During 2013 we aim to create a score to accompany the unfinished text, now in its 8th draft . This will include arrangements and compositions made by a range of people on the five year development journey including Little Bulb Theatre, Rebecca Dell & Danny Stopani and Helen Chadwick.
There are tentative plans to create a mothers and daughters workshop with Shady Jane company in Hampshire. We also hope to showcase a range of different BiDiNG TiME shows at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in the hope that this will attract more partners and participants. Biding Time (remix) is planning to tour Scotland. Workshops are planned in Ireland and Germany, we hope there will be more.
If you are looking for new ways of doing things then BiDiNG TiME offers some suggestions. Join us on the journey. www.bidingtime.org
