Top 10 in the Top End

We are extending this year's Darwin campaign activity to leverage Lonely Planet's listing Darwin as a Top 10 city to visit in 2012 by producing five new videos featuring the "Top ten experiences in the Top End" as identified by Lonely Planet.

The videos on our new custom YouTube channel are being promoted across Yahoo, Fairfax, Yahoo, and News digital networks as part of the 2012 Darwin campaign.

China travel agent impressed by eastern focus

During a recent familiarisation trip, innovative Southern China travel agent Yueqiao were delighted to discover that NT operators are already tailoring their products for Chinese travellers, by offering Chinese guides and Chinese menu options that utilise local produce. Yueqiao have been on a self-drive familiarisation visit supported by Tourism NT earlier this month. To help you learn more about how to increase your focus east, China Market Industry Briefings will be held in Darwin and Alice Springs on 8 and 16 May.

Ghan commemorates ANZAC Day with tribute journey

The Minister for Tourism will farewell The Ghan today as it sets off on an ANZAC Day Tribute journey from Darwin with a large media contingent on board. The commemorative journey includes a Bombing of Darwin tour, a visit to the Adelaide River War Cemetery, a traditional Dawn Service in Katherine and ride aboard an original ‘troop train’ through the Flinders Ranges.

Darwin International Airport is the overall winner of the Routes Asia Marketing Awards held in Chengdu, China. Congratulations to Ian Kew and his team, who faced stiff competition from several capital city airports, yet took home the Oceania and South East Asia region award and the Overall Winner award.

Tourism NT Annual Report awarded

The presentation and readability of Tourism NT's 2010-11 report has been recognised in the NT Public Sector Annual Report Awards for the second consecutive year. The report focused on how tourism contributes to the Government's Territory 2030 strategy, incorporated a new international market snapshot and refined the presentation of financial information.

New Indigenous tourism trade website

Tourism Australia has launched a new Indigenous tourism trade website. It is aimed at improving awareness and promoting the quality and diversity of the Indigenous Tourism Champions to wholesalers, inbound tour operators and travel agents. Be sure to check out the site and the NT product included in the National Indigenous Tourism Champions Program.
