The translocation of wild animals is becoming an increasingly important conservation strategy around the world. In a mammoth example of the gruelling process, 200 elephants are being moved from South Africa to Mozambique’s Zinave National Park. Matt Hayward explains why, and what it takes to move so many huge animals.

The International Criminal Court enjoyed overwhelming support among African states when it was established 20 years ago. That has changed and last year the African Union urged African countries to withdraw from the ICC. Michelle Nel doesn’t disagree, and argues that the continent already has the makings of a more viable alternative.
