Our Office is Growing

The SGS is excited to announce that Jaime Iwaasa will join our team next week as our new Administrative Assistant.

Jaime will be up at the front desk with Lorie Peter. Her primary role will be assisting current students throughout their graduate journey and providing administrative support to various SGS committees. Welcome aboard Jaime!

Did you know...

students in the MA, MSc, PhD, MFA, and MMus programs, can request a semester extension to their program by completing a Progress and Standing report that includes a detailed timeline to defence?

A revised Approved Program of Studies form will be provided, pending approval by the Dean, SGS.

 
 

e-Thesis Submission System Available

The University of Lethbridge Library and the School of Graduate Studies are excited to announce that the e-Thesis Submission system is now available for all graduate students in thesis-based programs.

Graduate students, supervisors, supervisory committee members, and Thesis Oral Defence chairs are strongly encouraged to review the revised thesis format regulations and e-thesis submission procedures outlined in each graduate program’s Policies & Procedures manuals.

Instructions for submitting a PDF copy of the final thesis document are available on the SGS website.

Opting-out of the U-Pass program

Graduate Students who meet the following criteria are eligible for voluntary opt-out from the U-Pass program:

  • a student doing practicum work or field work outside the City of Lethbridge for more than 3/4 of the Fall or Spring/Summer semester
  • a student who lives outside of the Lethbridge Transit Service area

Opt-out deadline for the Fall semester is September 15th and January 15th for the Spring semester.

Refunds will be credited to the student’s account. Please contact the Cash Office after the deadline for any questions related to the refund.

 
 
 
 
 

Assessment: Marking and Grading Workshop

This hands-on workshop will develop skills necessary to effectively deal with assessment of student learning. This workshop addresses understanding grading schemes and their application to samples of student work.

Even if you attended this session last year, you may want to attend our “new and improved, completely revised” workshop on this important topic; and of course receive credit for your attendance.

How Do We Encourage Life-Long-Learning?

What is life-long-learning? Do we encourage life-long-learning in our students and if so, how? This session of Talking About Teaching will focus on answering those questions and looking at how the University of Lethbridge can foster life-long-learners.

Panelists will include: Tyler Heaton, Ute Wieden-Kothe, Helen Kelley, Jenna Kummer, Maurine Shwartz And Janice Vasari

The session will begin at 2:30 pm in L1050 on Friday, September 26th. Each panelist will speak for 10 minutes and then take questions and comments from the audience. Refreshments will be served, and a door prize is avaialble. Drop in anytime. We look forward to seeing you.
