LAST CHANCE TO MEET CANDIDATES BEFORE ELECTION

The North Central Florida Tea Party is holding its last meeting prior to the election on Thursday, October 13th at 7:00 p.m.  Between the August primary and the November election we have invited all the candidates who will be on the November ballot.   We will be conducting a straw poll at each meeting so that we can do a “voter recommendation guide” prior to the election.
We meet at the Jackie Taylor Building, 128 SW Birley Road in Lake City. Our speakers that night will be: Shawn Crocker – Suwannee County Property Appraiser; Scarlett Frisina – Columbia County Commission District 5; Sam St. John – Suwannee County Sheriff; Julie Ulmer – Suwannee County School Superintendent; Don Hale – Suwannee County Commission District 1; Chris Furst – Suwannee County Commission District 5; and Ted Roush – Suwannee County School Superintendent.  Everyone is invited to attend this meeting.  Please invite your friends and family.  Go to www.northcentralfloridateaparty.org

Wreaths Across America

Gracie's American Heritage Girls troop will be participating in the Wreaths Across America event on December 17th in Jacksonville. This will be our third year. It is such an amazing and humbling event. Please consider sponsoring a wreath (or two...) to ensure every Veteran has a wreath on their grave this Christmas. You will be helping two good causes. Gracie's troop receives a portion of the funds so we can continue serving our local communities with service projects.

To visit Gracie's Donation page, go to:

Gracie will have a table at the October 13th meeting if you would like to sponsor a wreath there!

In a brief article published recently in Slate, Posner was highly critical of American law schools. Among his criticisms was a dismissal of a need to study the meaning of the Constitution. “I see absolutely no value to a judge of spending decades, years, months, weeks, days, hours, minutes, or seconds studying the Constitution, the history of its enactment, its amendments, and its implementation (across the centuries — well, just a little more than two centuries, and of course less for many of the amendments),” he wrote. “Eighteenth-century guys, however smart, could not foresee the culture, technology, etc., of the 21st century.”

Posner later offered an “apology,” if someone could take from those comments that he did not think “the Constitution has any role to play in interpreting the law — that it should be forgotten.”

“That was not my intention,” Posner continued.
