METRO Orange Line Construction Bulletin Oct. 10

Ramp Closure: Southbound I-35W to westbound I-494

Starting October 17, the southbound I-35W to westbound I-494 ramp will be closed for approximately three weeks. This closure is needed for utility construction to prepare for Knox Avenue Transitway construction next year. The ramp reopening is anticipated for November 7.

Vehicles will be detoured to westbound Highway 62 to southbound Highway 100 to I-494.

Local access is available from 76th Street and 82nd Street to Penn Avenue.

Local access is available:

76th Street westbound to Penn Avenue or for destinations further west continue westbound 76th Street to Xerxes Avenue or France Avenue.
82nd Street westbound to Penn Avenue southbound to American Boulevard

The METRO Orange Line is a planned Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line along I-35W between downtown Minneapolis and Burnsville. It will use roadway improvements, upgraded transit stations, Park & Ride facilities and improved bus routes to provide fast, frequent and reliable all-day service. Implementation is expected in 2019.

Funding commitments for the Orange Line have been provided by the Counties Transit Improvement Board, the State of Minnesota, the Metropolitan Council, Hennepin County, Dakota County, and the Federal government.
