CPC Hosts Human Services Forum at CPC One On July 16th, CPC hosted a Human Services Forum at CPC One. Co-organized by the Human Services Council of New York, New York City Employment and Training Coalition, and the Mayor's Office of Contract Services, over 120 human services sector leaders converged at CPC One to learn about the status of PASSPort updates, revisit procurement wins, and discuss challenges and new processes that may impact human services organizations. EDUCATIONWe provide high-quality learning opportunities for all ages—from Pre-K and after-school enrichment to adult English language classes—because education is lifelong.
CPC Kicks Off Summer Rising Program for 1,300 NYC Youth CPC kicked off the Summer Rising program for over 1,300 young people in Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens. At the CPC Pike Street Summer Rising Program at P.S.126, students participated in STEM projects, arts and crafts activities, physical fitness exercises, presentations, and community building initiatives.
CPC Chrystie Street Students Explore Lower East Side History On July 29th, students from CPC Chrystie Street School Age Child Care Center went on a walking tour of the Lower East Side with the Museum at Eldridge Street. They explored the neighborhood's history, demographic shifts, and changing dynamics over the decades through this informative and engaging experience. FAMILY SUPPORTWe make it easier for individuals and families to access personalized social resources because support is fundamental at every age.
CPC Takes Community Members to Met Museum On July 9th, the CPC Brooklyn Community Center organized a trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art for members of the Older Adult Mental Health Service program. The program, supported by the New York City Council, is committed to offering mental health screening and support for individuals aged 55 and above. The excursion provided an opportunity for community members to bond while exploring the museum's exhibits.
CPC Hosts Pro Bono Legal Clinic with AABANY On July 13th, CPC hosted a pro bono legal clinic with the Asian American Bar Association of New York, the offices of Council Members Alexa Aviles and Justin Brannan, and State Senator Iwen Chu. The clinic was held at CPC Brooklyn Community Center. Volunteer attorneys provided free consultations to 18 community members on matters ranging from housing and immigration to special education law. CPC Receives State Grant from Assemblywoman Rozic for Center Upgrades On July 8th, CPC welcomed Assemblywoman Nily Rozic to Queens Community Center to see the repairs funded by a $125,000 state capital grant she secured for the center. Visitors of the community center, seniors and children in particular, have been able to enjoy the use of functioning elevators thanks to the state grant. The state funding also provided air conditioning units for CPC’s daycare center.
CPC Hosts Press Conference on E-Bike Safety On July 22nd, U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and State Senator Iwen Chu held a press conference on e-bike safety at CPC Brooklyn Community Center. They were joined by Council Member Alexa Avilés, New York City Fire Department Commissioner Laura Kavanaugh and over 25 community leaders. E-bike fires primarily impact Asian Americans, people of color, immigrants, and low-income communities.
CPC Hosts Summer Party to Celebrate Partners and Allies On July 10th, CPC hosted a Summer Party at CPC One to connect with partners and allies. Over 200 guests, including Deputy Mayor Ana Almanzar, Michelle Jackson from the Human Services Council, and representatives from community-based organizations, schools, foundations, corporations, government agencies, and legislative offices, attended the event to celebrate CPC’s partnerships and the new space.
CPC Speaks on NYU Health Equity Career Panel On July 23rd, Steve Mei, Director of CPC Brooklyn Community Services, spoke on a Health Equity career panel organized by NYU Langone's Section for Health Equity and Institute for Excellence in Health Equity. He shared valuable insights about careers in human services related to population health and health equity. Nearly 100 individuals attended the hybrid session.
