Scientists at Cern’s Large Hadron collider may have discovered an entirely new particle, with other teams working hard to try to confirm the finding. As Roger Barlow explains, if it really is a new particle, it would completely challenge our understanding of particle physics. As the favoured theories of physics at this tiny scale don’t allow for this particle to exist, theorists would have to come up with something completely new.

The benefits of going meat free – or cutting down on it in our diet – include making us healthier, saving rainforests, and tackling climate change. But despite caring about these things, many of us still fail to change how we shop or order in restaurants. The National Crime Agency has opened a criminal investigation into Brexit mega-funder Arron Banks over claims that Russian money went into the Leave.EU campaign in 2016. If that were the case, would the Brexit result be void? A lawyer explains.

Peter Jackson’s acclaimed World War I film, They Shall Not Grow Old, has received particular applause for the use of colourisation and its unique soundtrack which used lip-readers to script dialogue from previously silent footage.
