The Moringa tree is native to the foothills of the Himalayas in India. But it’s increasingly being cultivated across the world’s tropical zones. The pods and leaves of the tree are recognised as a nutritious “superfood” which is why more and more products are lining supermarket shelves. Now a use has been found for the moringa tree in medicine. Carrie Waterman explains.

For thousands of European tourists who travel to East Africa, a visit would be incomplete without buying Maasai glass beads and a red Maasai blanket. But their origins aren’t straight forward. Vanessa Wijngaarden sets out how interactions between Europe and the continent have affected their place in Maasai culture.
