heading title of main article

2012 has been an exceptional year for Shakespeare’s Globe. As it draws to a close we reflect on some of the highlights of the year.  Opening the season in April was the hugely ambitious Globe to Globe festival that drew audiences from far and wide into the wooden O. We are delighted that several of these productions will be returning next year. Currently thrilling audiences at the Apollo, Richard III and Twelfth Night marked the return of Mark Rylance to the Globe stage and Stephen Fry’s Globe debut.

Building work is now well underway on the new indoor theatre that we recently announced is to be named The Sam Wanamaker Theatre. We are now fundraising in earnest to raise the last £1 million to complete this beautiful candlelit theatre, which will open in 2014. You can help us make this a reality by playing your part and donating now; by text, online or over the phone

Christmas is just around the corner. Every day in the run up to the big day we're bringing you a gift idea from Malvolio’s Stocking, featured on our social networks. For those of you looking ahead to the New Year, a Friends membership makes the ideal gift as the recipient will be eligible for priority booking for the 2013 theatre season.

For the first time the Swan restaurant and Bar will be open for New Year celebrations, so book ahead and welcome in the new year overlooking  the sparkling River Thames.

We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
from all at the Globe.
