1st Grade eNews

Here's a reminder about how we will handle snow days if we have them!  If we are out for snow, we will just enjoy the day off for the 1st day; if we miss more than one day, the 2nd day will be a cyber snow day.  Look for an email from your teacher with instructions on what your child needs to do.  

• Bible - Following Jesus (The Vine and the Branches, Fishers of Men, The Church begins to grow)
• Verse - Colossians 3:17, “Whatever you do in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.”
• Reading - Essential Question: What are some different ways to travel?
• Phonics - long a sound (words with ai, and ay)
• Words to Know: about, by, car, could, don’t, maybe, sure, there
• Comprehension Skills & Strategies: Compare & Contrast
• Vocabulary Strategies: Defining words
• Grammar: Parts of a sentence
• Unit: Animal Habitat; Martin Luthur King Jr.
• Math - Chapter 12: Adding 2 digit numbers; Please continue practicing addition facts to 5

This is a great opportunity to learn about Shiloh, hear from our leadership, and visit with current students, families, and teachers. • January 21 - No School - Martin Luther King Jr. Day
• January 22 - 100th Day of School (if there are no snow days) Bring your project and dress like you are 100 years old!
• January 25 - Scholastic Orders Due
• January 30 - Boxtops Due
• February 7 - SHILOH CONNECT for Shiloh families from 8-9am followed by 1st Grade Little Dribblers & PH Jigglers at 9:15 am in SEC Gym at the Springdale campus.
• February 18 - No School - Presidents’ Day
• February 19 - Discover Shiloh Dinner Event for prospective families from 6 - 7-30 pm in the Kids Theater
