Hi there,

Defining identity digitally is a challenge confronting humanity. Presenting your passport at a customs gate and peering into the camera is not possible online (maybe it should be), but increasingly it is the level of assurance that is needed to facilitate important online transactions.

But with personal data a prize sought by businesses and government alike, protecting online identity and data are topics that have almost three-quarters of us changing our online behaviour.

Yet while we want privacy, we also want convenience – the seamless sharing of data with companies we trust, when it suits us.

In other news:

  • Microsoft and Oracle team up to take on Amazon's cloud
  • Getting empathetic with customer experience
  • Keeping safe on public Wifi (you know you sometimes use it!)
  • See, snap, buy: Social shopping gathers pace
