Will you be Hiking this summer?

This summer, we are organizing our very first Hike the Hill at Home.  It’s just like our Hike the Hill lobby day in Ottawa, but you can do it from close to home.

Credit union advocates will be meeting with their local Members of Parliament who are back in their constituencies this summer.  It's another great opportunity to talk about the difference your credit union makes and to build relationships that will help your credit union and the whole system in the future.

Dozens of advocates have already signed up, and so can you!

Send us an email and we’ll send you a customized Hike the Hill at Home Meeting Scheduling Kit so you can get some face time with your local MP this summer.

Happy hiking!

Advocates ready to talk the difference

Hike the Hill at Home has barely even started, yet CU Nation advocates are already having success scheduling and holding meetings with their Members of Parliament.

Many advocates have only recently contacted their MP's riding office to schedule a meeting.  Yet, others like Nova Scotia-based Teachers Plus Credit Union have had a terrific Hike the Hill at Home meeting with their MP.

Three representatives from Teachers met with Halifax West MP Geoff Regan on July 12.  In his Hike the Hill at Home feedback form, Teachers’ CEO Steve Richard reported that he and his fellow advocates enjoyed a “very good meeting that lasted 30 minutes”.  He added that “the MP was very engaged and asked lots of questions.”

Credit unions like Alberta’s Servus and Ontario’s Libro Financial have also scheduled meetings for later this summer.

Have you scheduled a meeting with your MP?  Be sure to let us know.  We will send you your Pre-Meeting Kit, full of information about your MP and briefing material to share.

Fast facts

Ninety-seven percent of Members of Parliament have at least one credit union branch in their riding.

That means there's at least one credit union branch in every federal riding in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador.  And there's a branch in almost every riding in Ontario and New Brunswick.
