Minister for Tourism Stuart Ayres said initiatives like this are crucial for growing tourism in rural and regional parts of our State. “Tourism is vital to rural and regional communities, contributing $19.5 billion to the NSW economy and directly employing more than 90,000 people,” Mr Ayres said. “The NSW Government is committed to supporting our regions through tourism, and after viewing this beautiful new content, why wouldn’t you want to visit. View and download the new Moree content package from the Destination NSW Content Library. ![]() PIEFEST WRAPS UP A MONTH-LONG CELEBRATIONThe Southern Highlands’ month-long celebration of all things pies is coming to a close for 2019, with the finale of 30 days of pie celebrations, PieFest, taking place this weekend. PieFest promises to be bigger than previous years, with 15 pie outlets onsite and more pie themed activities including pie races, pie throwing and more pie eating sessions. Visitors will be able to taste, purchase and enjoy a pie (or three!), plus vote for their favourite pie in the ‘People’s Choice’ award. Local producers will also be showcasing samples of local wines, beer and cider, with plenty of other activities including cooking demonstrations and entertainment. For the first time ever, the event will also include a vintage Holden car display. PieFest is on 29th and 30th June at the Bong Bong Picnic Racecourse, Kangaloon Road, Bowral. NSW fullback Tom Trbojevic was the star of the 38-6 victory in Perth – scoring three tries on his return to the Blues side. It followed Queensland’s 18-14 success at home in Game One of the 2019 series. BLACK TIE AND GUMBOOT TRUFFLE HUNT RETURNSFor the 12th consecutive year, Borrodell Vineyard in the NSW Central West is set to host its famous Black Tie and Gumboot Truffle Hunt and Dinner on Saturday 13 July. This quirky event sees guests dressed up to the nines, searching for truffles under mainland Australia’s oldest truffle trees with the truffle dogs, before settling down to a five-course truffle degustation feast in an underground wine cellar. The feast is prepared by onsite Head Chef Richard Learmonth and is served with matched wines from Borrodell’s own museum range. Guests can dance to live music throughout the night and are encouraged to dress to impress – with prizes for the most ‘glammed-up’ gumboot and a charity auction of the premium truffle harvest on the day. FOCUS ON GREATER CHINA 2019 TO BE HELD IN NSWDestination NSW’s largest trade event for the Greater China market will be held in New South Wales for the very first time from 1-7 September 2019. This key annual event for Destination NSW, once known as the Greater China Roadshow has previously been held in different locations in China. Focus on Greater China is designed to showcase Sydney and NSW products and destinations to key Chinese, Hong Kong, and Taiwanese trade partners. Destination NSW is providing this unique opportunity to the NSW tourism industry by bringing the key Greater China partners to discover and experience NSW first hand. NATIONAL INDIGENOUS ART FAIRIndigenous artists from around Australia are set to come together in Sydney this weekend for the National Indigenous Art Fair – a two day art market and program of events in celebration of NAIDOC Week at the Overseas Passenger Terminal in Circular Quay.
