We are thrilled to share that Buffalo LISC is the recipient of a $25,000 grant from the Citizens Bank Foundation that will go towards our Building Sustainable Communities initiative this upcoming year.

Grants were also awarded to two of Buffalo LISC’s local partners in Building Sustainable Communities, PUSH Buffalo and the Massachusetts Avenue Project (MAP). The grants are part of the Foundation’s “Citizens Helping Citizens Strengthen Communities” initiative.

Citizens Bank Foundation
Buffalo LISC is proud to announce that we have received a grant for $15,000 from the First Niagara Foundation support our Building Sustainable Communities initiative this upcoming year.

Building Sustainable Communities offers neighborhoods a way forward to developing stability and promoting growth. It helps transform streets marked by chronic poverty and stagnation into good places to live, work, do business and raise families.

First Niagara Foundation
The Buffalo LISC office has been awarded $218,000 for 2014-15 from the National LISC allocation of Section 4 funding from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The funding will allow the Buffalo LISC office to continue to provide financial and technical support to our community partner organizations.

HUD Grant Award
Seneca Street, located in Buffalo’s Larkin District, has been coming alive and our partnerships with the Larkin Development Group and the Old 1st Ward Community Association (O1W) have helped it along. Buffalo LISC provided support for O1W’s successful NY State Main St Grant application which is injecting $500,000 in much needed improvements to the Seneca Street commercial strip.

A long time supporter of Buffalo LISC, The John R. Oishei Foundation strives to be a catalyst for change to enhance economic vitality and the quality of life for the Buffalo Niagara region.

Buffalo LISC’s most recent Oishei Foundation grant was for $450,000 over 2 years to help support our Building Sustainable Communities Initiative. It included a $250,000 challenge grant component and we were very pleased that the challenge was met and thank the Oishei Foundation for helping us leverage other local resources.
