The Chamois gets sendy
To the public, Kitzbühel is mainly known as a legendary race site for alpine downhill skiers. The ‘Streif’ is the downhill highlight of the season and has justifiably grown to the myth it is today. It’s just nuts, what levels of speed the guys must withstand in this race. Yet, the racers’ style definitely leaves some room for improvement. Honestly, the straight airs over the Mausefalle don’t really knock our socks off. You may win a downhill race this way but certainly not a QParks Tour Stop.
Yep, that’s right. QParks is freestyle and freestyle is strongly represented in Kitzbühel as well. ‘Cause when the famous chamois slips out of its race suit and puts on the twintips it heads straight to the Snowpark Kitzbühel. At the Hanglalm, 47 finely shaped obstacles including the brand-new Advanced Area with even longer landings are waiting for you. And last Saturday, 70 snowboarders and freeskiers put the area to the test at the Sick Trick Tour Open, the 4th stop of the QParks Tour 2019.
In our lead article, you find out how this turned out and we show you the radest shots of the day. Spoiler alert: conditions were perfect, and the riders were on fire. Hence, the shots, both still and moving, kick ass.
