Nominations for the Write to End Violence Against Women Awards Now Open. Following the success of last year’s awards, nominations are now being welcomed for 2014’s Write to End VAW Awards: recognising and rewarding quality violence against women reporting in Scotland. Constitutions cafe: Gender equality and the referendum. Engender and the Scottish Centre on Constitutional Change are hosting a ‘constitution cafĂ©’ on gender equality and the independence referendum between 18:00 -19:30 on Thursday June 5th. Full details and how to book, available here.

Rape Crisis Scotland: Survivor views on a future Scotland. As the Referendum approaches, Rape Crisis Scotland is keen to seek the views of survivors on what they would like responses to sexual violence to look like in a future Scotland. More information, available here.

Money and Power: Commercial Sexual Exploitation DVD hard copy available free. Created in partnership with the Women’s Support Project, this DVD and CSE Resource Pack is a comprehensive tool for learning more about the sex industry and challenging the normalisation of sexual exploitation. The hard copies of this DVD are now available free of charge. Save the date! Domestic Violence Perpetrators - Changing the Story. Durham Centre for Research into Violence and Abuse (CRiVA) is giving prior notice of two landmark conferences which will be held on 13th and 15th January 2015. These conferences will mark the end of their longitudinal research into domestic violence perpetrator programmes. More information, available here.

Solicitor General highlights the need for a more modern approach to tackling Domestic Abuse in Scotland. Lesley Thomson QC said that Scotland needs to look towards developing a modern approach that takes account of the devastating emotional damage to victims caused by domestic abuse as well as the physical damage that is so often caused. Scotland to pilot 'Clare's Law' to tackle domestic violence. A scheme allowing people to find out whether their partner has a history of domestic violence, known as Clare's Law, will be piloted in Scotland. Full article, available here.
