Some highlights of our meeting included adopting our new Community Board Plan for 2020 - 2022. This Plan outlines the strategic priorities we would like to achieve over the next three years and will guide our decision-making process. This plan will be available on the Board's webpage in the coming weeks. We approved authorisation for the Redcliffs School Board of Trustees to operate a school patrol at a relocated pedestrian crossing on Main Road, Redcliff. Sally Buck steps down from Community BoardOne of Christchurch’s longest serving elected members has resigned due to ill health. Sally Buck has announced her resignation from the Waikura/Linwood-Central-Heathcote Community Board. Her resignation marks the end of her 22 year contribution to local government in Christchurch. Work starts on new Linwood swimming poolThe Linwood/Woolston community has celebrated the start of construction work on the eagerly-awaited Te Pou Toetoe: Linwood Pool. The $22 million facility is being built in Linwood Park on the corner of Linwood Avenue and Smith Street. Apollo Projects Limited, which built Taiora QEII, has been contracted to build the new facility, which is scheduled to open late next year. Meet the Contractor for the Woolston Village upgradeChristchurch City Council are holding a ‘Meet the contractor’ session at the Woolston Community Library's main hall at 5.30pm on Tuesday 7 July to introduce the Citycare project team to the local community. Everyone is welcome to come along. Give Way on Port Hills RoadWe’re asking drivers to observe a Priority Give Way between 55 to 45 Port Hills Road in Heathcote. Due to delays with pipe connections arriving from overseas, we need to close this section of the road until we can complete installing the connections to the new wastewater chamber. Traffic management will be in place until these works are complete. Stadium deconstruction comes in under budgetDeconstructing Lancaster Park Stadium has cost $2.9 million less than expected. Christchurch City Council had budgeted $12 million for deconstructing the earthquake damaged stadium, but a final tally of the costs puts the bill for deconstruction at just over $9 million. Council votes to buy Christchurch Netball CentreChristchurch City Council will try to acquire the Christchurch Netball Centre in South Hagley Park as a new base for community recreation, sports, and multicultural activities. Explore how Matariki connects to the environment and celebrate this special time of year. Metrocard only $5 from 1 JulyEnvironment Canterbury is lowering the price of a Metrocard to $5 from 1 July. With a Metrocard, bus fares are 25 per cent cheaper than if you pay by cash. Metrocards have been free for the month of June to help encourage continued contactless payments as part of Environment Canterbury's COVID-19 response. Bromley odour action plan releasedLast month Environment Canterbury released findings of a pilot study focused on identifying odour in Bromley. Environment Canterbury says the pilot study findings clearly identified the two Christchurch City Council-owned facilities - Living Earth organics processing plant and the EcoCentral EcoDrop - as significant odour emitters. In response to the findings presented by Environment Canterbury, we’ve been working with EcoCentral and Living Earth to develop an action plan outlining potential short, medium and long-term options to mitigate odour at these facilities.
