Helping to enhance the safety of Juno Beach

February 4, 2024 - Volume 7 Number 3

Congratulations to Sergeant José Nuñez

The Police Foundation is pleased to congratulate Sergeant José Nuñez on his recent promotion to the rank of sergeant.

Sergeant Nuñez has been with the Juno Beach Police Department for nearly twenty years. He is well-known within the community and has served the agency in several different capacities, including road patrol, investigations, evidence management, field training, and often as the Officer-in-Charge of a platoon.

José's work is consistently performed at an extremely high level, and he has earned the respect and admiration of fellow Officers, as well as police officers from throughout the County. He is a terrific representative of the agency and has received the prestigious "Officer of the Year" award on five separate occasions over the course of his career with the Juno Beach Police.

We are delighted to see José rising to the rank of Sergeant and wish him well as he continues his career in the Town of Juno Beach.

COFFEE WITH A COP

Coffee With A Cop, sponsored by the Juno Beach Police Foundation, will be held this month on February 7th at 9:30 AM on the Town Hall Plaza (weather permitting) between the Town Center and the Juno Beach Police Department. Coffee and donuts will be available during the event.

We invite you and your friends to a delightful morning that promises great conversations, warm smiles, an update by the Chief of Police, and the comforting aroma of freshly brewed coffee.

LEARN TO SAVE A LIFE!

The Juno Beach Police Department, with funding from the Juno Beach Police Foundation, conducted its first 2024 CPR/AED class on January 26 at the Town Center. The class was made up of 16 residents of the Barclay Condominium under the instruction of Police Officer Brian Berlingo.

The agency will again continue its practice of teaching CPR, AED, and First Aid Courses to interested groups and individuals throughout 2024.

The courses can be scheduled for your Homeowners Association, Condominium Association or neighborhood group either at the Town Center or your association's community room.

AEDs in Public Places

The Police Foundation is excited to announce that four Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) have been installed in public places and are now ready for immediate use!

These AEDs have been permanently positioned at the following four locations:

  • Kagan Park near the basketball court
  • South gazebo at Pelican Lake
  • North gazebo at Pelican Lake
  • Town Hall Park gazebo at 841 Ocean Drive

An fifth AED will soon be placed at Friendship Fountain on Celestial Drive.

These AEDs are easily identifiable and conveniently accessible, ensuring swift response in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest. Should a medical emergency requiring CPR and AED use arise, individuals can call 911. The Police/Fire dispatch center will provide the caller with the code to open the AED storage box, while simultaneously dispatching both Police and Fire-Rescue personnel to the scene.

According to Fire-Rescue studies, "For every minute that goes by that someone doesn't receive CPR their chance of survival goes down by 10%." The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says more than 356,000 people are affected by cardiac arrest each year.

Your safety is a top priority of the Juno Beach Police Foundation!
