It’s a busy week in Oregon politics!

EFO is proud to co-sponsor an event tomorrow morning at Portland’s Steel Bridge, which is in need of serious repair. In a state that has lines of workers who want jobs, it makes economic sense to invest in infrastructure repairs such as those needed on the Steel Bridge, yet Congress is stalling on a jobs bill that would provide funds for these projects. Come join us in support of job-creating investments at 8 a.m. You can find out all the details here.

Finish off your day of civic engagement with an Advocacy Training Day hosted by EFO. It's from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the United Workers Center in Gresham, located at 19255 E Burnside. The group will be discussing and practicing effective techniques for making our voices heard in policy discussions on issues that matter most to us.

This will be leading into a legislative hearing this Friday, November 18th in Salem. Legislators, consumer advocates and the financial lobby will be discussing foreclosure-related issues. The hearing will be held in Hearing Room E at 2 p.m. at the State Capitol, located at 900 Court St. NE in Salem. While this hearing isn't open for public testimony, it is a great chance to hear the debate around this very important topic, and an opportunity to say hello to your elected leaders. Carpools are available! Call 503.236.6088 for more info.
