2nd Grade eNews

We have had a great week - we hope you have too! We love November!

  • Bible - We will continue our study of David. This week our story will come from 1st Chronicles 15 and 16.
  • Memory Verse - Psalm 105:1, “Give thanks to Yahweh, call on His name. Proclaim His deeds among the people.”
  • Reading - We will have a story called “Click Clack Moo, Cows that Type.” We will begin working on the skill “Main Idea.”
  • Spelling - Our skill this week will be adding the suffix -ing. One rule for adding ing is that you add ing to one-syllable words with one vowel and two consonants after the vowel. Here are some examples: jumping   standing   fishing  planting
  • A second rule for adding -ing is that when you add  -ing to one-syllable words with one vowel and one consonant after the vowel, you need to double the consonant before adding ing. Here are some examples: running   cutting   swimming   winning
  • THERE IS AN EXCEPTION! NEVER DOUBLE THE FINAL LETTERS W, X, AND Y: Here are some examples:  box….boxing    snow….snowing   play….playing
  • Grammar -  We will work on Past, Present, and Future tense verbs in a sentence. Here is an example of each:
  1. John walked to school yesterday.
  2. John is walking to school today.
  3. John will walk to school tomorrow.
  • Math – Two digit subtraction, temperature, clocks with elapsed time, and story problems. Please continue to practice addition and subtraction facts to 18.
