2nd Grade eNews
We have had a great week - we hope you have too! We love November!
Academics

Bible - We will continue our study of David. This week our story will come from 1st Chronicles 15 and 16.

Memory Verse - Psalm 105:1, “Give thanks to Yahweh, call on His name. Proclaim His deeds among the people.”

Reading - We will have a story called “Click Clack Moo, Cows that Type.” We will begin working on the skill “Main Idea.”

Spelling - Our skill this week will be adding the suffix -ing. One rule for adding ing is that you add ing to one-syllable words with one vowel and two consonants after the vowel. Here are some examples: jumping standing fishing planting

Grammar - We will work on Past, Present, and Future tense verbs in a sentence. Here is an example of each:

Math – Two digit subtraction, temperature, clocks with elapsed time, and story problems. Please continue to practice addition and subtraction facts to 18.
Important Dates

November 7-14 - Book Fair - open 7:45-4:00. Parents are welcome to shop before and after school. 7:45-8:15 and 3:00-4:00

November 14 - Christmas in November—Wear a Christmas sweater, t-shirt, sweater! And Bring $1, $2, or $3 dollars to support Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes. Pray for those receiving the box and the Good News.

November 21-25 - Thanksgiving Break - NO SCHOOL

December 1 - All School Christmas Chapel 9:15 a.m. & 6:30 p.m. Second Graders will be singing - look for details in Mrs. Darr’s email.

December 2 - $9 due for Christmas Present

December 14 - 2nd Grade Field Trip to Shiloh Museum - details will come later
Reminders

Please put your child’s name in sweaters and jackets.
-
We try to go outside even when it is cold for at least a few minutes on a walk or to play, so be sure your child always has proper attire for cold weather.
