Click here Barnard College Update - Thursday, Feb. 2, 2017Dear Claremont resident: We are pleased to report that we’ve made significant progress on the construction of the teaching and learning center’s superstructure and (knock on wood) the long-term weather forecast looks pretty good. Also, over the past couple of weeks, the boiler and the fuel tank were installed in the cellar. Next week we’ll start building the outside hoist on the tower portion (northern end of the site) of the building on the Claremont Avenue side of the site. This hoist – which will look similar to an elevator – will help transport staff and materials to the higher floors of the tower. As we continue in this superstructure phase we’ll occasionally be sharing some fun facts about the building as we near its August 2018 opening. This week, here’s a few steel and concrete facts:
