Helping to enhance the safety of Juno Beach

Enhancing Investigative Tools for Community Safety

The ability to conduct thorough investigations is a critical function of any police department. When incidents occur, having access to reliable information can make all the difference in understanding what happened and ensuring the appropriate response. One of the most effective tools available to law enforcement today is video surveillance.

To support the police department in its investigative efforts, the Juno Beach Police Foundation is funding the installation of surveillance cameras around Pelican Lake. These cameras will provide recorded footage that can be reviewed when needed to help clarify timelines, verify witness statements, and identify individuals who may have been present. They also serve as a deterrent, discouraging unlawful or unsafe activity, while offering peace of mind to those who visit and enjoy the area.

It is important to note that these cameras are not about real-time monitoring or facial recognition and do not record audio. This initiative is strictly focused on enhancing investigative capabilities - not on monitoring daily life. The goal is to ensure that should incidents occur, law enforcement has the tools necessary to respond effectively.

The Juno Beach Police Foundation is proud to support this effort as part of its mission to enhance community safety. By investing in technology that strengthens investigative resources, we continue our commitment to public safety and community outreach, helping to make our town a safer place for all.

"Pizza with the Police" Kicks Off with a Strong Start in Sea Oats Community

The inaugural Pizza with the Police event at Sea Oats was a great success, bringing together approximately 50 residents for an evening of conversation, community, and, of course, pizza. This pilot program, originally proposed by Mayor Peggy Wheeler and supported by the Juno Beach Police Foundation, provided a valuable opportunity for residents to connect with their local law enforcement in an informal setting.

Chief of Police Brian Smith delivered an informative presentation on the department's ongoing law enforcement efforts, offering insight into key initiatives and priorities. Residents gained a better understanding of the work being done to keep Juno Beach - and more specifically, the residents of Sea Oats - safe.

Juno Beach Police Foundation President Tom Murphy expressed gratitude to those in attendance and to all Juno Beach residents for their continued support. He emphasized how donations to the Foundation allow them to provide funding for advanced technology, specialized training, and critical equipment, as well as to sponsor important community outreach programs - including this very event. He also highlighted recent initiatives such as the Mature Driver course, the Security and Safety Conference co-sponsored with the Juno Beach Civic Association, and the ever popular Shred Fest, also co-sponsored with the Juno Beach Civic Association.

Following the presentations, attendees enjoyed a 30-minute meet-and-greet with members of the Police Department, the Police Foundation, Mayor Wheeler, and her fellow Council members. This open forum allowed residents to share their thoughts, ask questions, and discuss local concerns directly with town leadership, Police Officers, and Police Foundation representatives. The evening wrapped up as the Sea Oats Property Owners Association transitioned into its regular meeting agenda.

It was an engaging and productive night, filled with meaningful discussions and positive interactions. And what better way to bring people together than with delicious pizza from Tiramisu, a favorite local Italian restaurant. With such a successful first event, there's great anticipation for expanding Pizza with the Police to other Juno Beach neighborhoods in the future!

Technology Safety Seminar Exceeds Expectations

The "Security and Safety With Today's Technologies" seminar, organized by the Juno Beach Civic Association and co-sponsored by Juno Beach Police Foundation, was an overwhelming success. Originally planned as a one-hour session, the engaging presentation by local resident and technology expert Mark Szalkiewicz extended beyond two hours, with 46 attendees eager to learn more about protecting themselves in the digital world.

Mr. Szalkiewicz provided invaluable insights into online security, scam prevention, and safe browsing practices, keeping the audience captivated with real-world examples and practical advice. His expertise and dedication were evident, and we sincerely thank him for his time and effort in delivering such a valuable presentation.

We extend our gratitude to the Juno Beach Civic Association for organizing this event and to all who attended. Your participation and enthusiasm made this seminar a tremendous success, and together we're helping to keep Juno Beach safe by empowering residents with the knowledge to protect themselves. Stay tuned for more educational opportunities in the future.
