Kia ora Member,

Mediation

Unfortunately mediation today has been unsuccessful so we will be proceeding with the strike action on 3 September.

It was very clear additional Government funding would need to be provided quickly to these Primary Health Care (PHC) employers if a resolution was to be reached today. This has not occurred so no options were able to be explored.

We understand that discussions by the Government have been happening in recent weeks in relation to pay parity, but no tangible options or agreements have yet been forthcoming.

As you know the Government has known about the urgency of pay parity in PHC for at least a year. Indeed, it should have been obvious since the DHB MECA settlement in 2018, so the fact that an offer has not been made to avoid a strike is unfathomable.

Strong collective action on Thursday will keep the pressure on discussions that will find the solutions we need.

Get those emails to the Minister asap

We have set up a form email to Minister of Health Chris Hipkins. Please sign this as quickly as possible and share it with your whānau, friends and communities too! It's crucial to keep these up now.

Posters

Click here for new posters that have been developed to support Strike Day activities. These should be printed in A3 for the rallies/gatherings if possible, but A4 is still fine.

Another update will be out tomorrow and a media release is coming out tonight.

It's appalling that the Government is refusing to take decisive action, but be assured that through our collective strength a resolution will come!

Take care and keep safe.

Ngā mihi,

Chris Wilson
