iStart New Zealand

Hi there,

It’s been 18 months since the great New Zealand CTO/Astronaut in Waiting debacle. The temporary (and convoluted) Digital Economy and Digital Inclusion Ministerial Advisory Group wound up late last year in anticipation of this week's news that a Digital Council has been appointed.

Charged with helping the country navigate the fast changing digital and data landscape, the Digital Council’s seven members will advise policy initiatives from a digital perspective.

The chosen councillors, chaired by the well-regarded Mitchell Pham, undoubtedly tick the box for diversity. Let us all hope, in election year, that the policy they are asked to advise on drives an economic dividend, rather than just diversity and inclusion mandates.

In other news:

  • Legal fraternity finding its place among tech disruption
  • The management implications of remote working
  • ACCC says competition law needs sharper teeth to bite digital oligarchs
  • CAB advises caution on taking digital too far

CFO 3.0 – it's a thing. We look at moving the CFO role from reporting on history to interpreting real-time data with the CFO 3.0 – Digital Transformation Beyond Financial Management whitepaper.
