Cloud2 - Now officially "Award Winning"
Dear colleague
What a busy month it's been so far. Because it's still so busy, this isn't going to be a long newsletter - we just wanted you to know that we won an award!
Venturefest Innovation Showcase
The Venturefest Innovation Showcase award is given to the company whom the judges feel have the most growth potential, and we were ecstatic to accept the award.
After all the hard work these past 18 months, it's really exciting to be told that we're doing something right.
With so many worthy companies showcasing their products and revealing ingenious ideas, it really was an honour to come out on top. Yorkshire really is one of the best spots in Britain for talented young businesses, as Venturefest Yorkshire 2011 easily proved.
You can visit the showcase page here to find out exactly who else was in the running.
And what is it you do, exactly?
"Exactly" is difficult to explain, but in general terms we build intranets, document management systems, business intelligence portals, clinical portals and electronic forms for our clients. (Read more about how eForms can be used.)
NHS trusts (and especially those seeking Foundation Trust status) need to have robust management of documents. So Policies and Procedures need to be created, approved, published so all staff can get at the definitive copy, then reviewed and re-issued prior to an expiry date. All sorts of other documents have similar processes, with version control and the ability to find the latest copy a key factor. We provide all that and help move documents of file shares or insecure local drives in the process.
Trusts have to provide the operations and executive team with clear and insightful information and data on a huge range of key performance indicators, delivered in reports and dashboards that make it easy to understand and act on. Often this means pulling data from a data warehouse and from numerous Excel spreadsheets. We provide all that and make it easy for teams to extend it themselves.
Staff need to access multiple clinical systems as well as access other sources of information. Ideally this should be through a Clinical Centre on an intranet. We provide all that as well as offering tablet computers as light weight and intuitive as an iPad to carry with them.
On average, trusts struggle with over 500 different types of form, mostly on paper. The process for circulating, approving and acting on this is often complex and inefficient and needs to be improved to meet QIPP targets. We provide all that in the form of highly sophisticated eForms and automated workflows. Kinesis on SharePoint makes it easier to find and share that information - learn more about it here.
Growth, Growth, Growth
Since last November we've been working with some great new customers. Here's a rundown of the latest additions to our portfolio.
Derbyshire Health Informatics Service - We are helping the HIS and PCT architect their main SharePoint infrastructure.
University College of London - We are creating a range of HR electronic forms for employee appraisal and establishment control forms, in particular:
- Establishing a new post form
- Requesting a recruit to an existing post
- Disestablishing a post form
- Amending an existing post form
Yorkshire and the Humber SHA - Supporting their recently launched intranet and extranet (which we built)
Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust - Development of their next generation document management solution for Policies and Procedures and for meetings management.
University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust - Creating an electronic forms solution for absence monitoring and reporting, and support for their business intelligence programme.
Great Ormond Street Hospital - Carrying out a detailed technical review of the current clinical documents solution. This is a great example of the power of SharePoint, where it provides staff across the hospital secure and quickly searched access to almost 1 million clinical documents.
We are also doing quite a bit of training around SharePoint, including, most recently, for Blackpool PCT and NHS Great Yarmouth and Waveney.
Finally we continue to demonstrate our SL8 tablet PCs, we keep finding new ways in which these are excellent devices for use across trusts.
SharePoint licence allocations
At long last, CfH have issued the allocation of Client Access Licences (CALs) to all NHS trusts.
Peter Dyke and the CfH team have worked very hard to come up with a fair and reasonable distribution. Now you have them you may need to think about how you are going to use them.
If you have any questions or concerns we are very happy to offer advice, especially on the SharePoint CAL and Enterprise CAL situation. We are even happier if you now want to talk about going ahead with a project to build your SharePoint solution and use the enormous value the CALs represent.
Next month
We intend to provide a run down of the various solutions, add ons and complementary technologies for SharePoint. Let us know if there are any that you are especially interested in knowing more about.
