More info When: 26 August - 2 September OPERA STUDIES DAY When: Saturday 14 July, 9am Opera is a powerful and capricious art-form, which fascinates and challenges scholars, and invites a multitude of responses. This study day at the New Zealand School of Music explores this ‘exotic and irrational entertainment’ from a variety of perspectives. NZSM recent graduate Joe Haddow has advanced to the semi-finals of the Lexus Song Quest which take place on 21 and 22 July - watch the delightful video above. Pasquale Orchard, whose MMA is focusing on Bel Canto singing techniques, will be progressing to the semi-finals of the IFAC Handa Australian Singing Competition on 11 August, along with fellow semi-finalist and NZSM alumna Katherine McIndoe.UMAR ZAKARIA WINS RECORDED MUSIC NZ BEST JAZZ ARTIST TUINew Zealand School of Music graduate Umar Zakaria has won the award for his recent release, Fearless Music, produced in collaboration with other NZSM talent.
