We're delighted that Will King and Pasquale Orchard (pictured above) will share the stage in a lunchtime concert on 20 July. These singers are ones to watch - come along and say you saw them here first! Read on below for news of other voice student successes (did we mention Joe Haddow is in the Lexus Song Quest semi-finals?) and mark your diaries with some of the exciting events we have coming up.

Join us to celebrate and resonate Māori Pasifika voices at Te Kōkī, in an afternoon of korero and performances from NZSM students past and present.

A return of the extremely popular China Crossing concert held in 2017, this year’s programme will include contemporary and traditional music for yangqin (chinese dulcimer), sheng (reed instrument), Western chamber music instruments and taonga puoro.

Calling all trombonists! Join us for a weekend of workshops and concerts for all ages and abilities. American trombonists Jim Pugh and Dr. Irvin Wagner join Rodger Fox (NZSM) and NZSO trombonists Matthew Allison, David Bremner and Shannon Pittaway to present a range of masterclasses, workshops and rehearsals. THE MOMENT JOE HADDOW FINDS OUT HE'S IN THE LEXUS SONG QUEST SEMI-FINALS...

The past month has seen some fantastic successes from both current and former NZSM voice students. NZSM recent graduate Joe Haddow has advanced to the semi-finals of the Lexus Song Quest which take place on 21 and 22 July - watch the delightful video above. Pasquale Orchard, whose MMA is focusing on Bel Canto singing techniques, will be progressing to the semi-finals of the IFAC Handa Australian Singing Competition on 11 August, along with fellow semi-finalist and NZSM alumna Katherine McIndoe.

STUDENTS VISIT MORTAL ENGINES RECORDING SESSION

On Saturday 26 May, students from NZSM recording and film-scoring classes attended a recording session for the upcoming film Mortal Engines, currently being produced by Peter Jackson. Read more
