Casual Technicians - Curve Theatre
Leicester Theatre Trust (LTT) is seeking experienced Casual Technicians to join the Casual Pool at Curve: one of Britain’s leading producing theatres located in the heart of Leicester’s Cultural Quarter. The successful candidates will work as part of the Production Department, maintaining the required high standards of production and maintenance across all areas and equipment. Working within the Technical department you will be responsible for providing a full professional technical support service to Curve and its users. Project Manager - Shooting Fish Theatre Co
Shooting Fish are looking for a project manger to support a large outdoor theatrical event for 15 days from late August to early November. The candidate must have experience in recruiting and contracting freelance artists; managing budgets; managing event logistics including equipment, venues, resources, transport and catering; undertaking risk assessments and any other needs required to meet the demands of the project on time and on budget. We are interested in working with someone who is happy to get involved practically as well from a managerial perspective to ensure we meet the artistic demands of the project. Preferably we are looking for someone who is able to support the project remotely from home as well as working from our offices in Lincoln Town Centre when required. Duty Manager - Curve Theatre
Due to internal promotion, we have an exciting opportunity for a Duty Manager to join the Operations team at Curve, Leicester’s state of the art theatre situated in the heart of the City’s Cultural Quarter. Head of Public Programmes - Nottingham Contemporary
Nottingham Contemporary, one of the UK’s leading centres for contemporary art, is seeking a new Head of Public Programmes. Choreographer - New Youth Theatre Leicester
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the New Youth Theatre Leicester as part-time choreographer.  Working on Saturdays in term-time, the position involves choreographing and teaching musical theatre routines to children aged between 4 and 16 years.  We produce three full-scale musicals every year; recent productions include Hairspray, Annie and Grease. Artist Opportunity for a writer and illustrator - Junction Arts
Junction Arts is inviting expressions of interest for two roles of Writer and Illustrator for the ‘Green Lanes To Motorways’ anthology project.  Creative professionals will work with secondary school pupils to create a collaborative anthology of writing and illustrations (with a small print run) and an E-book, focusing on routes and journeys both historic and personal through the Derbyshire Limestone landscape from early times to the modern era. The project is located in the Limestone Journeys Landscape Partnership Scheme Area of NE Derbyshire. Leicester Print Workshop are now recruiting for a part-time Temporary Project Manager
LPW is currently preparing to move to new premises and needs additional resources whilst the Director and team deal with the exceptional work load. We are looking for a part time Temporary Project Manager who will work closely with the Director and the staff team to track progress against plans, oversee evaluation and provide content for reports, help with the creation and implementation of project plans and ensure smooth flow of work. Photographic Commission - Foundation for Community Dance
The Foundation for Community Dance is producing a photography exhibition that will feature disabled people dancing in iconic dance moments in film. The exhibition will tour varying locations in the UK from March 2015 through to March 2017. With support from Unlimited Impact, we are searching for a young disabled photographer under 26 living in the UK with a passion for their art and an interest in dance. Festival Volunteers Required
Everybody's Reading (Sept 27 - Oct 5) is a Leicester City Reading Festival. Now in its 5th year and with over 100 events taking place in libraries, cafes, theatres, cinemas and a whole host of other city wide venues it's going to be a busy one! We require a happy band of volunteers to greet visitors, sign post people to events and generally be the face of the 2014 Festival. As an Everybody’s Reading Festival Volunteer. East Leicestershire LEADER bid
Leicestershire Rural Partnership is currently working with local partners to support a bid for EU Rural Development funds which could attract up to £2m investment for East Leicestershire.  With priorities that include: rural tourism; farm diversification; small and micro enterprises; and culture and heritage, we feel it is a real opportunity to help support, promote and grow the creative sector in the area. LEADER is a French acronym which translates to 'Liaison among actors in rural economic development' and is a community / business led approach to rural development. As such it is important that we engage businesses in the development of the East Leicestershire bid, and we would very much welcome your support. Workspaces

Studio Space available at Cross Corners Arts Centre
Set in a historic listed building, in the beautiful grounds of Belgrave Hall, the space offers artists individual or shared accommodation which includes secure access all year round. There are other artists within the centre who form a strong and vibrant creative community. A Studio is currently available for a competitive annual fee of £2,100 for the full space or £1,050 for half of the space - (£86 per square metre).  All utility and service costs are included in the rent.  Also included within this fee is an expectation that the artist will be available 6-12 times a year to take part in art workshops for children attending Mellor Community Primary School, which has close links with the centre. Opportunities exist for artists to provide other workshops on a fee earning basis as well as becoming involved in festivals and events at which their work can be showcased and sold. Active by Design
Two individuals or groups aged 16+ will each win £1000 to spend on realising simple, practical ideas to encourage people to be more physically active. We’re searching for 70 talented up-and-coming designers to showcase as part of our 70th anniversary celebrations. For us, turning 70 isn’t about looking back at our history. IdeasTap Inspires: Magnum Professional Practice
Magnum Photos is giving 20 IdeasTap members at the start of their careers the chance to take part in a two-day photography masterclass in Birmingham. Zero Budget Film Workshop
Cheap Thrills! Zero Budget Film Festival is an independent FREE collaborative community film festival that has been running in Sheffield since 2011 and is happening in Sheffield in September and Loughborough in October 2014. Last year the festival entertained over 300 people with over 50 films, sent in by people from Sheffield, Loughborough, the rest of the UK, Egypt, USA, Spain and Russia. The idea is simple - you make a film, send it in, and the volunteer team of arts professionals make a one-night festival out of as many they can. You bring friends and family, it’s free to enter a film and free to come to the festival.  It’s a great night out – all it costs is your time and creativity. If you want to make a film then it must be: 1. Short (under 8 minutes) 2. Entertaining 3. Family friendly 4. CHEAP – it should cost you nothing, or, as little as possible. The Design Council - Knowledge & Resources
The Design Council have an archive full of reports, case studies and guides for you to download. The library is aimed at everyone from businesses to government, designers and students. Phoenix Interact Labs
Phoenix Interact Labs is a space for people to be creative with digital technology. It includes everything from DIY hardware kits to a 3D printer, providing a supportive environment for learning, experimentation, collaboration and making new things. ​http://interactlabs.co.uk/
 

  • Introduction to 3D Printing Tue 12 Aug, 6.30-8.30pm. £10. Learn how to make your own 3D printed objects, the different ways 3D printing can be used and where the technology is headed in the future.
  • Open Labs - Sat Aug 19th Drop in between 1 - 5pm, Free. Come along and see the sort of work currently taking place at Phoenix Interact Labs. We’ll be demonstrating the 3D printer, the watercolorbot, the Raspberry Pi-controlled robot arm and other recent projects. Feel free to bring your own projects to share. 
  • Summer Creative Technology Workshops for Kids On Fridays in August Phoenix is running free drop-in workshops in the cafe bar for children to get creative with the latest technology. In this session you can find out how to make your own 3D printed model and learn straightforward computer programming with Phoenix Interact Labs. Booking not required, just turn up. Free.
  • Animation workshop with Katerina Athanasopoulou 20 Sept. Suitable for ages 14 – 18, £10. Contact the box office to book. Ever wanted to make your own animated gif and star in it as well? Get to grips with green screen and pixilation techniques with award winning animator Katerina Athanasopoulou who will show you how to shoot stop motion using your fellow participants and how to combine the footage with colourful backgrounds to produce vibrant animated gifs.

 

Film Theory Courses at Phoenix

  • Distributing your Film Saturday 6 September, 10.30am - 4pm. £35 / £30 conc. During the course, participants will learn how to identify target audiences and markets, and how to reach them through maximising a films sales potential; how to find a distributor, demystify contracts, enter negotiations and secure the deal; make deliverables cheaply and effectively ,and ensure delivery is met; and maximise the chances of getting an international release.
  • Waves to Nouveau - 8 Film Moments 9 September - 28 October (8 sessions) £52 / £44 conc. The course will explore various film movements throughout the world and history of cinema. A film movement consists of films that have been produced within a particular period and/or nation that share significant traits of style and form.

Leicester Print Workshop Lithography Fellowship
As part of its focus on lithography, Leicester Print Workshop is offering a post-graduate level Lithography Fellowship. The selected candidate will access high quality teaching from our expert lithographer Serena Smith and will join our community of artists. Through regular attendance at our studio, the selected individual will be able to learn, practice, experiment, and gain substantial knowledge and technical proficiency. The post provides the opportunity to pursue a focused period of independent research and practice, together with access to facilities and the support and guidance of a mentor. Open Art Exhibition - Cank Street Gallery
On 26th July, Leicester's new Richard III Visitor Centre opened just a few steps from our doors.  Here at the Cank Street Gallery we want to celebrate by showing off Leicester's artists to visitors expected to come from all over the world. We are already showing many new original works by local artists on our walls at the Cank Street Gallery, but, have decided to go a step further and invite Leicester's artists and makers to compete for an opportunity to show their work in the Cank Street Gallery's first Open Art Exhibition. The exhibition is open to all ages and we hope to attract new, emerging and established artists.  All works will be for sale in the exhibition and a prize of £500 will be awarded to the overall winner. Nottingham Castle Open 2014 - Applications Now Open
For more than 100 years Nottingham Castle Museum & Art Gallery, the first municipal Museum & Art Gallery outside of London, has played host to an ‘open-style’ exhibition, an event which celebrates the enormous creative talent within the region. The Nottingham Castle Open is one of the busiest and most exciting events in the Castle’s Annual calendar. The Nottingham Castle Open 2014 is now seeking applications in any media from Midlands-based Visual Artists over the age of 18, for an exhibition which will take place from 13 December 2014 –18 January 2015. Each exhibitor has the chance to receive a wide variety of prizes, which include the Grand Prize of £2,000, alongside other cash, materials, exhibition and residency opportunities courtesy of the many sponsors who support the exhibition. The Pitch, is part of The Knowledge Festival, Oxford House’s annual arts festival. This year’s Pitch theme is around the idea of Fun Palaces. Supernatural Open Call, QUAD
Exhibition opportunity open to individuals, collaborations and collectives, presenting new and existing work. QUAD, Derby’s centre for contemporary art and independent film, presents an exciting opportunity for artists to exhibit work around QUAD’s Extra Gallery Spaces as part of QUAD’s upcoming Supernatural season. Lincoln Voices Artist in Residence - Lincoln City Council and University of Lincoln
Lincoln Voices:Artist in Residence - The City of Lincoln and University of Lincoln have secured seed funding from Magna Carta 800 to support artist residencies that explore contemporary issues relating to Magna Carta. The first residency we are awarding will be research based and attached to the University's School of Law and or School of Social and Political Sciences.  The residency offers an extraordinary opporutnity for research and access to materials relating to Magna Carta. Lincoln Cathedral own one of only four surviving 1215 Magna Carta along with a copy of the 1217 The Charter of the Forest. We expect the artist in residence to develop ideas for a new commission throughout their period of research. The residency will run between April 2015-March 2016 c 60-70 days over this period. A generous fee plus accommodation, travel and materials budget will be provided. Confirmation of the residency is dependent on further funding from the Leverhulme Trust. Introducing the #wellMAKING Craftivists Garden!
This exciting collaborative venture will show how craft activities can help improve wellbeing by involving participants like me and you in the fun, connected, sensory and mindful process of making things. We would like you to make flowers for the Craftivist Garden, they can be stitched/embroidered onto fabric, or crocheted, or knitted. All of the flowers will be exhibited in gardens in London, at Clarence House in January 2015. The work will be presented as a kind of petition to parliament to explain to MP's the importance of crafting to well-being. Call for Submissions: East Midlands Graduate Project: EM14, Surface Gallery
Surface Gallery is now accepting submissions for its sixth East Midlands Graduate Project, EM14; Nottingham’s only graduate residency. This opportunity supports Fine Art graduates from across the region by offering a free residency and exhibition in an independent, contemporary art space to kick-start the transition from university into the professional art world. The East Midlands Graduate Project will be open to practitioners of all disciplines.   • Singed Organza Flower Corsage Thursday 14th August. 10.30am – 1pm, £20 (includes all materials and tuition). Learn how to create your own beautiful flower corsages or hair clips, as subtle or vibrant as you choose with textile artist Linda Harding. Cut circles of different shades of shot organza and discover how to singe the edges to create a wonderful flower petal effect.
  • Creating Paper-Fabric Saturday 30th August, 12:00 – 3:00pm, £25.00 (includes all materials and tuition). Paper fabric is a combination of thin fabric layered with tissues and various kinds of paper, from sheet music to maps, foreign language newspapers to printed napkins, glued together to create a strong yet flexible laminated surface. After the gluing, the fun begins - adding colour and pattern using acrylics, metallic paints and glitters, block printing and stencilling.

'Three Houses Dreamed' poetry workshops
Join poet Mark Goodwin on three poetic miniature residencies in three resonant heritage houses... At Newarke Houses Museum in Leicester, you will delve into an outside that is inside, as well as spend your evening in the company of various parts of a house. At Calke Abbey, you will enter a time-trapped yet transformational abode, and must be prepared to spend a whole day encountering poetic materials and residues of dreams. An afternoon workshop at Wigston Framework Knitters Museum will allow you to briefly dwell in the large 17th century cottage that is numbers 42 to 44 Bushloe End. All writers are welcome, be they experienced or novice. The poetic produce will eventually be shared via three e-pamphlets. Leicester's Centre for Indian Classical Dance (CICD) has announced dates for it's Summer Masterclass and Taster Workshops. The Summer Masterclass is open to all those who are experienced (intermediate to advanced) in Kathak dance. Free acting masterclasses in Sheffield and Leicester
Win a place on a free six-hour acting workshop. Ian Smith, director of the Television Workshop, is offering 48 actors aged 16+ the chance to attend a free six-hour masterclass based around a typical Television Workshop acting workout – a mix of games, exercises, improvisation and script work. The skills taught by the Television Workshop are equally applicable to working on stage as they are on screen. Two masterclasses will take place. The first at the Sheffield Crucible on the 18th September and the second at Leicester Curve on the 19 September. Call for Dance Workshops, Performance Artists & Dance Commissions - London Bridge Live Arts Festival
IdeasTap and Team London Bridge are commissioning three outdoor dance workshops, three outdoor dance pieces and 8 to 12 street theatre performances themed around the five human senses to be performed as part of London Bridge Live Arts (LBLA) festival, 25 to 27 September 2014. PAF Fellowship
The PAF Fellowship scheme aims to support individuals through the early stages of their performing arts career; helping them to establish themselves in the professional world through bespoke placements within existing organisations. The PAF Fellowship will lead to an exciting new creative network in the performing arts sector, supported, developed and ready to launch their professional careers. We want to increase the Fellows’ skills through training and development opportunities tailored to the individual, to raise their aspirations, and to encourage collaboration. Rather than awarding grants directly to individuals themselves, we are looking for applications from performing arts companies, organisations, venues and festivals from across the UK to host a Fellow who should be selected by the organisation. National Student Drama Festival 2015
The National Student Drama Festival empowers and inspires young talent and ambition. NSDF15 will take place in Scarborough next spring. It will feature performances, workshops, discussions, masterclasses and entertainment in venues across Scarborough, including the Stephen Joseph Theatre, University of Hull Scarborough Campus and the Scarborough Spa. It will run from Saturday 28 March 2015 to Friday 3 April 2015 inclusive. If you are aged 16 to 25 (inclusive) and involved with a UK-based theatrical production taking place between now and 20 February 2015, and think that it might be something that deserves being part of NSDF15 then find out more here. This brief closes on Friday 20 February 2015 at 5pm and is open to IdeasTap members aged 16 to 25.

Workshop: How to be a Confident Creative - The Refectory Table

This new workshop led by creative business coach and mentor Pete Mosley will help you find the mindset, tools and techniques to boost your confidence, give you more energy and sense of direction. Your confidence will be significantly harder to rock and easier to recover when it is shaken and the task of self-promotion suddenly gets a lot easier. Discover & Explore Arts Award Adviser Training
2nd October 2014, 1pm - 4pm, Cross Corners Arts Centre Leicester. £115 per person. Arts Award supports young people to develop as artists and arts leaders. Find out how to use Arts Award’s flexible framework through Discover & Explore adviser training. This course is suitable for those working with young people aged 5-25 and who meet the requirements outlined in the adviser person specification including: teachers and teaching assistants, youth workers and arts co-ordinators, arts and music professionals. Training from The Mighty Creatives

  • Understanding Teaching Schools and Academies Tuesday 30th September 2014, 10am-12pm, Market Harborough. Over recent years there has been a rapid pace of change in education policy, which can be difficult to navigate for those working alongside the education sector. This session will provide an overview of Teaching Schools and Academies, giving artists and arts and cultural organisations the space to explore the challenges and opportunities these educational reforms present in their work with schools.
  • Creativity and the Young Brain Wednesday 1st October 2014, 10am- 4pm, Guildhall Arts Centre, Grantham. Delivered in partnership with the Child Learning and Development Advisory Centre, this 1 day training course will explore the theory behind brain development, and in particular how a life rich in art and culture can support healthy and robust child development. Book your earlybird ticket by 17th September and only pay £35.

  • Introduction to Legacy Fundraising 16 Sep 2014, 10:00am - 12.30pm £25. This short session explains how to go about raising funds through encouraging stakeholders to include you in their will. It's a tricky subject but the rewards for charities and voluntary organisations can be immense.
  • Good Governance Workshop 23 Sep 2014 - 9:30-12. Free. This is the autumn version of VAL's series of Good Governance Events designed for local Chairpersons and Trustees. A chance to network, gain some knowledge and keep in touch. A light buffet and refreshments will be provided.

A Leicester city council initiative, provides employers with all the support they need to take on an apprentice including a new grant. How can Leicester Apprenticeship Hub help your business? Leicestershire Workspace Study
S4W are undertaking a survey on behalf of Leicestershire County Council to help understand business workspace supply and demand in East Leicestershire. People's Postcode Trust - Small Grants Programme
Our Small Grants Programme exists to try to make the world a better place through short-term, project specific funding. We are now open for funding and will be accepting applications until August 22nd. Through this programme, we provide funding for projects of up to twelve months in length, ranging from £500 up to £20,000 (£5,000 for projects of up to six months in Wales) to registered charities, community and voluntary groups, community interest companies and other not-for-profit organisations. The Elephant Trust
The Elephant Trust has announced that the next deadline for applications is the 29th September 2014. The Trust offers grants to artists and for new, innovative visual arts projects based in the UK. The Trust's aim is to make it possible for artists and those presenting their work to undertake and complete projects when confronted by lack of funds. The Trust supports projects that develop and improve the knowledge, understanding and appreciation of the fine arts. Priority is now being given to artists and small organisations and galleries who should submit well argued, imaginative proposals for making or producing new work or exhibitions. Arts Festivals are not supported. The Trust normally awards grants of up to £2,000, but larger grants may be considered. Read more at here.

The Bank of TMC
The Bank of TMC is an initiative that provides bespoke business start-up support to creative young people aged 16 to 25 years old. The Bank of TMC offers grants of up to £5,000 that can be used for capital and/or revenue development costs of launching or growing a business (i.e. marketing, equipment or consultancy and professional support). To apply for a grant, you will firstly need to register your interest by completing an expression of interest form which you can find on this page. Accelerator
Accelerator is IdeasTap's new commission-free crowdfunding platform. As an arts charity and funder, we've been helping creative people to get their ideas off the ground for years. Now we're offering our members a way to raise project funding themselves - without the commission fees other crowdfunding platforms charge. What's more, we're putting our money where our mouth is. Every month, we'll select up to two Accelerator projects and pledge £500 to help each of them reach their target. To find out more visit the website.

Heritage Lottery Fund - First World War: then and now
First World War: then and now provides grants of £3,000 to £10,000 for communities to mark the Centenary of the First World War. With a grant from us you could make a real difference to a wide range of people by helping them understand the war and its impact better. In particular, we believe that involving young people in marking the Centenary is important. First World War: then and now is a rolling programme, meaning you can apply anytime. Clore Poetry & Literature Awards
The Clore Duffield Foundation is open to applications as part of its £1 million programme to fund poetry and literature initiatives for children and young people across the UK. Through the programme, schools, FE colleges, community groups, libraries and other arts/cultural organisations can apply for grants of between £1,000 and £10,000 to support participatory learning projects and programmes focused on literature, poetry and creative writing for under 19s. Funding to Enable Disadvantaged Young People Reach their Potential
Registered charities that work with disadvantaged children under the age of 25 can apply for funding of up to £10,000 through the Ironmongers Company’s grants programme. In particular the company wants to support projects that provide opportunities for disadvantaged children and young people to fulfil their potential and educational activities that develop learning, motivation and skills. Read more here.

Garfield Weston Foundation
The Garfield Weston Foundation helps small, local community organisations and covers a wide range of charitable activity. Areas funded include: education, arts, health, environment, community, youth, religion and welfare. Grants of up to £50,000 are available. There are no formal deadlines for submitting applications. Golsoncott Foundation
Golsoncott Foundation grants are available to voluntary sector organisations in the UK for projects that promote fine arts and music. Grants vary according to context and are not subject to an inflexible limit, but they are unlikely to exceed £5,000 and are normally given on a non-recurrent basis. Read more at here.

Radcliffe Trust
Funding is available for UK registered charities working in music, and heritage and crafts. No minimum or maximum level of grant is specified. The majority of grants are one-off payments or recurrent annual grants over a two to three year period. Read more here.

Creative Employment Programme
The Creative Employment Programme (CEP) is an initiative funded by the Lottery and Arts Council England, administered via Creative and Cultural Skills, and provides organisations in the creative and cultural sector with access to grant funding so they can provide structured opportunities for young, talented people to enter the industry.  To learn how you can get involved, join one of The Mighty Creatives' short online information sessions to find out more. You might be considering taking on an Intern in the very near future, you might want to help by providing a work shadow placement for a school leaver, or you might just want to know more about the CEP for future reference because 'you never know'; all are welcome! Funding for Creative Young People
IdeasTap, a non-for-profit initiative supports young creative people between 16 and 30 years of age, has announced that its Ideas Fund Innovators is open to applications. During this funding round the Ideas Fund Innovators aims to offer 20 projects £500 each (10 for those aged 16 - 22 and 10 for those aged 23 - 30) to help get them off the ground. In the past, Ideas Tap have funded everything from dance and film projects to music videos and photography collectives. Applications from any creative field will be considered. Ideas Tap are looking for projects that are inspiring, original, innovative and that Ideas Tap think you can deliver. This brief closes on the 1st September 2014 at 5pm and is open to IdeasTap members aged 16 to 30 on the closing date. Funding Available To Help Volunteering
The Alec Dickson Trust provides grants of up to £500 to help young people of up to 30 or small groups of young people run a volunteering project in their local area. The fund seeks to support projects that enhance the lives of others, particularly those most marginalised by society such as: the homeless, those with drug dependency problems, people with disabilities. Innovation Fund Bursary Programme 2014
Bursaries are available of up to £20,000 per year over 2 years. The purpose of the bursaries is to support small scale pilots to develop projects with new and innovative ideas, to deliver improved and sustainable health and social care outcomes for individuals, linked to prevention approaches. All the Application documentation, including full details of who can apply and for what sort of projects, are now available on the Source Leicestershire website. The deadline for applications is 1st September 2014, 17:00. To help organisations to develop their applications, we will be holding events around the County throughout the application phase. The Arts Marketing Association
Founded in 1993, the AMA is a not-for-profit organisation with around 1,800 members, providing a community of knowledge for arts professionals passionate about bringing arts and audiences together. We support the professional development of AMA members through events, courses, training and resources. We run a range of practical, strategic and conceptual level events and courses each year, in locations across the UK. These are designed to help our members develop practical skills relevant to their job, encourage debate, share experience and knowledge of leading practitioners and provide opportunities for networking with other members.
