KidSafe: Call for Volunteers for Food Pick-up and Delivery

During spring break, Crofton House School will be a food distribution hub for KidSafe, and they need your help. KidSafe is looking for volunteers to pick-up lunch or food and supplies from CHS and deliver to a local elementary school. There are also opportunities available to pick up from one of their other food distribution hubs and deliver to a local elementary school. Deliveries are low to no contact. Support from the CHS community has made a significant impact on KidSafe’s ability to provide programming, meals and food supplies to families in need (read the thank you letter from KidSafe). For more information, or to volunteer, please visit the sign-up page.

Junior Kindergarten students headed into the Woods to see if spring has sprung … and it has! They made the most of the bright, warmer weather playing near the Horse Tree on their break.

Grade 3 students were treated to a virtual visit from Nicola I Campbell, a Nłeʔkepmx, Syilx, and Métis author from BC. The students read several of her books before the visit and prepared some great questions for her. Nicola read her book Shi-Shi-Etko to students, as well as her new book, Stand Like a Cedar.

A guest speaker visited the Junior School to work with Grade 6 students, exploring themes of equality, equity, and justice. Both students and staff appreciated insightful questions and observations from the group.

You’d think that painting with “anything but the brush” would cause some frustration, but for Grade 10 students, it has been a soothing assignment. They chose a colour palette and tools ranging from flatware to fingers and got to creating.

Grade 11 and 12 textiles students combined a unit on sustainability and the environment with a fashion show that demonstrates one way we can combat “Fast Fashion” — by making your own [amazing] clothes. Learn more and watch the students model their creations in a fashion show.

A huge congratulations goes out to all of the talented cast and crew of Puffs for an amazing production with a timely message: “We're all important … And we're all unimportant. We're all heroes. In some way. To someone.” We thank everyone involved for giving us some magic by showing us your love of theatre … and reminding us of the power of love and friendship. Grade 6 and 7 students had a busy time competing in their mini in-cohort badminton tournaments last week. The action was fast and furious, with dozens of pairings battling to be crowned champion.
