Financial education in schools

2021 funding recipients

Moneysmart, together with primary and secondary principal associations (APPA and ASPA) have announced the 12 primary school and 14 secondary school recipients for the financial literacy project opportunities (see Moneysmart in schools). We look forward to hearing how these projects unfold throughout the year.

Take care of yourself, take care of your money

'Take care of yourself, take care of your money' is this year's theme for Global Money Week (GMW). This event which runs from 22-28 March, provides a great opportunity to teach your students about money but also for you to reflect on your own financial wellbeing.

Plan for your classroom

Cassie Portelli, the Head Teacher of Mathematics at the Hunter School of the  Performing Arts in NSW will be celebrating GMW with a whole school activity. Students will imagine they are a finance journalist for an Australian paper, podcast or blog. They will research a financial issue related to COVID-19’s impact on Australia and write an article. Teachers at Hunter School of Performing Arts will then select student articles to publish into an e-book to share with the school community.
