And That Makes Three - Murlick, McCulloch & Huber Commit to Play Division I Golf

Three WGA members have committed to play golf at Division I institutions in the fall of 2016. Andrew Huber, a senior at New Trier, commited to play golf at Colgate; Matt Murlick, a senior at New Trier, to Marquette University; and senior Louise McCulloch, also a senior at New Trier, to Northwestern University.

Louise and Andrew have trained with the WGA since its inaugural year in 2011, while Andrew has been with the program for three years. All three have trained with the WGA Super Elite program that practices four days a week in the winter which includes two days of strength and conditioning work.

Andrew Huber

Senior • New Trier HS


Committed to play golf at Colgate University in the fall of 2016. Colgate is a Division I school that competes in the Patriot League.

At New Trier

• Named an Esmark High School All American in 2015

• Two-year all-state and all-conference honoree
• Led the New Trier Team to a runner up finish in the state tournament
• Recorded back to back top ten finishes in the state finals in 2014 and 2015

• In 2014, finished in the top ten in conference, regionals, sectionals, and State

• Three-year varsity player and co captain as a senior

•  All Academic Honor roll athlete for four years

• Recorded 5 straight Tournament rounds under par in 2015

Louise McCulloch

Senior • New Trier HS
Committed to play golf at Northwestern University in the Fall of 2016.

As a Senior at New Trier
• Earned all-state honors with her 9th place finish (77, 79) at the state tournament
• Named Chicago Tribune Athlete of the Week, September 2015
• 2015 Medalist at the State Regionals, Palatine Hills Golf Club, 73
• Medalist at the New Trier Varsity Golf Invitational, Winnetka Golf Course, 75
• Medalist at the Prospect High School Varsity Girls Invite, 73

• Runner up at the U of I Decatur Eisenhower Girls Golf Tournament, John Macek Memorial, 71
• Runner up at Illinois Woman Golf Association, U of I, Junior Girls Golf Championship, 78/74

Matt Murlcik

Senior • New Trier High School
Committed to play golf at Marquette University in the Fall of 2016.

As a Senior at New Trier
• Earned All-State honors with his 4th place finish at the state tourney
• Led the New Trier Team to a runner up finish in the state tournament
• Won conference with a 69 and runner up at state regionals
• Co-medalist for the Slovitt Cup
• Two-time MVP for the New Trier Golf Team

2015 Summer Accomplishments
• Played the entire summer season without shooting a round in the 80s (approximately 25 rounds on very tough courses)
• Medalist at 2015 MAJGT Deerfield Open (74/73)
• Placed 8th at the AJGA Memorial Junior at Ohio Sate Scarlet Course (75/75/73)
• Finished 5th/156 at the IL State Junior Amateur at Makray (73/71/76)
• 4th at the USGA Jr. Qualifier at Finkbine in Iowa City  (77/74)
• 6th at DuPage County Junior Classic at Shepherd’s Crook (71/72)
• Tied for 3rd at Shepherd’s Crook Open (71/72)
• Also won the 34th Chick Evans Junior Championship at Itasca CC in 2014, including earning exemption for 85th Illinois State Amateur Championship in 2015
