November 2013 Update
G'Day & Kia Ora,
The busy run up to the end of the year is well and truly underway with the team all involved in a lot of activities including the annual HTO Experience Aloha Famil which kicks off tonight. Thank you to all the Hawaiian partners who have kindly assisted us with the arrangements including the Island Chapters, and a special shout out to Ash and Mary for the extraordinary effort that has gone into the planning.
Across the "ditch" Darragh and the HTO team have also been very busy with famils and trade events. Last week NZ HTO hosted Brian Lynx and the IC's for a successful PAICE show. Feedback has been very positive from the NZ PCO's who attended and new MCI business is expected as a consequence.
MCI business from both AU and NZ continues to show positive signs of growth potential. Thank you to all the partners who have signed up for AIME next year. The allotment is now full and we look forward to what we hope will be a very successful show in February.
Details for ADU 2014 were sent to you this week and registration is now open. We urge you to book early to avoid disappointment as we anticipate it will fill quickly. Growth from the Oceania market continues to exceed expectations so be sure you are not missing out on your share of the business. There are a lot of changes happening in this market so come on down and stay in touch.
Happy Thanksgiving from your team Down Under! We wish you and your families a safe and joyful time.
A hui hou,
Helen and the HTO Team

HTO MCI Update
Hawaii Tourism Oceania together with Hawaiian Airlines, recently hosted a ‘Meet Hawaii Famil’ in October specifically targeting the MCI industry. Nine MCI industry personnel from Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne, travelled to Maui where they were hosted by Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa and Wailea Beach Marriott. They were also lucky enough to be among the first Australian travel industry professionals to see Maui’s newest luxury resort, Andaz Maui at Wailea. The group made the most of the fantastic range of outdoor activities on Maui including ziplining, Molokini Snorkel tour and visited a number of unique off-site venues including the Alii Lavender Farm, Gannon’s Estate, Marilyn Monroe House, O’o Farm and Sugar Beach Venue to show them the great range of product available.
We then flew back to Oahu where they stayed at the newly renovated Turtle Bay Resort, Sheraton Waikiki and the MODERN Honolulu where they were lucky enough to dine at Morimoto’s. We were also able to experience attractions such as the Polynesian Cultural Center, Kualoa Ranch, USS Missouri and Pacific Aviation Museum and once again visited numerous offsite venues such as the historic and beautiful Iolani Palace.
Overall, the feedback received was good and most found it to be an inspiring and impressive destination. Having participated in the Meet Hawaii Famil, participants are more likely to recommend Hawaii to clients. We have already received a new lead from one of the participants and their clients are visiting for a site inspection this month.
We are also gearing up for some busy months ahead including AIME (Asia-Pacific Incentives and Meetings Expo) and our client events in Sydney and Brisbane next February. We are really looking forward to another successful year at AIME and we’re thrilled with the response resulting in maximum participation.
Mahalo for your support and please feel free to contact Holly Ballard, Account Manager (MCI), +612 9286 8935, hballard@hawaiitourism.com.au.
