Dear Business Partner,

In developing VCOM and the data loggers of the blue'Log X series, we focused in particular on modular design and scalability. This enables the system to grow, in response to increased technical needs or the expansion of a solar park. For operating managers with a heterogeneous solar portfolio, the key advantage is manufacturer independence: No matter which data logger has been installed, the data of existing plants can be imported into VCOM and the entire portfolio can be efficiently monitored in one system.

This is what won over Stern Energy and TGE in Italy! Both O&M service providers plan to monitor and control their entire solar portfolio with the meteocontrol system. You will find more information on this topic in this newsletter.

Power control / grid feed-in management: feedback via “digital outputs”

Feedback is used in grid feed-in management to indicate that the corresponding command from the park controller (blue’Log) of the generating system was correctly received. It is now possible to implement this feedback with the help of the digital outputs in the blue’Log base module or in the MX module I/O.

Expansion of compatibilities

Inverters

  • Huawei SUN 2000-43KTL-IN-C1, SUN 2000-24.7KTL-JP and SUN2000-30KTL-A are supported now.
  • Kaco blueplanet 15.0 TL3 is supported now.

Energy meters

  • Schneider ION 7xxx/8xxx series is supported now.

IT Security: protect your systems – new tips & tricks

[Graphic: Blue line]

To protect your PV systems from outside access, we continuously work on solutions designed to provide the best-possible IT security. Our products create a very strong line of defense, including encrypted remote access and password-protected access.

We would like to provide you with further support and show you what you can do to increase the IT security of your systems. This is how you can avoid taking unnecessary risks:

  • Do not set port forwarding on your router for remote access. By doing so, you would place your data logger online for public viewing.
  • Close all ports on the router that you do not need.
  • Use a firewall if possible to provide optimal protection to the network of your PV system.
  • Reset the standard passwords of the data loggers as a way of optimally using existing protection options.
  • If you need to use remote access for some reason, you should only use a secure VPN connection to prevent public availability.

We will be happy to provide you with this service through our Connectivity Center and will help your service staff to create a secure and fast remote monitoring system.

  • Annual license for the Connectivity Center: Item number 426.023.

Stern Energy opts for monitoring from meteocontrol

Stern Energy S.p.a has reached a decision: The Italian O&M operator of photovoltaic systems will further rely on the monitoring platform of Germany-based meteocontrol GmbH to run operations on its portfolio. 25 MWp of the overall 195 MWp installed power that Stern Energy monitors and operates in Italy are already integrated in VCOM (virtual control room) and therefore can be monitored and controlled by means of the central platform. Stern Energy receives direct, on-site support in the Italian language by meteocontrol Italia S.r.l.
